This upscale hotel could be anywhere in Europe or US offering its services to tired travellers. The contrast is big compared to how the locals live.
By the time of our stay at the hotel, we had already stayed 2 weeks in tourist beach location in Nosy-Be.
The rooms were clean & nice, food ok and lobby and other common areas very inviting and comfortable.
The hotel staff was sometimes inconsistent in their comments, so it dependent on whom we asked. The taxi price to our selected tourist location (upper city) was not what was estimated by hotel staff (8 000 Ar) and this time I don't think it was just milking money from tourists by taxi driver as we negotiated the price beforehand (15 000 Ar). The estimations for amount of the drive time (1-2h) was not accurate to tourist locations. At least Upper city was practically right next door, although the taxi had to work its way up the incredible hills. The drive was much shorter, if even 30min one-way. For longer drives, the traffic probably has more effect on the duration of the drive. Maybe more thought needed what to offer (even excursions) to the tourists?
Besides these small inaccuracies, the hotel staff was very helpful, had maps for us and answered all our questions. We extended our check-out time (for a fee) without difficulties and in all other ways as well the hotel & staff was polite & accommodating towards us.
