Comfortable but needs work
Let’s start with the good things. It is a very central location and meets the basic needs of a rental. The check in and check out was great. The house was clean.Areas for improvement: when we got there not all the lights were functioning and as we tried to turn others on a breaker tripped, and the outlet sparked in my wife’s hand. I had to go outside in the dark and hunt around for the breaker box and fix the two tripped breakers. Fortunately, that did not happen again for the rest of our stay. That is an example of an overall electrical system that is in need of a serious update. There are numerous overhead lights in the house that are nothing more than a swag plugged into an outlet on the wall. In the kitchen, there is a light fixture with a wire hanging loose and not connected to a bulb. We did not test it, but it’s hard to imagine how this is not alive wire with the configuration of the lighting. The pictures of the house were taken some time ago and when the house was in better condition. The picnic table and cabinets in the kitchen show substantially more wear than in the photos. Finally, the house must be very well insulated. It was not very cold outside yet the heater ran so often just to keep the house 68. I’m sure that if you had actual cold weather, it would probably run all the time. This is a problem because the unit is actually quite loud, especially in the area of the downstairs bedroom. Anyway, it’s not a terrible place, but not a very good value

Very rustic
Place is adequate for a ski rental. Lovely location. Nice deck. Lots of space. Not the most welcoming place to hang out though. Very dark. Not enough lamps and many dont work. Fireplace doesnt work well. Kitchen utensils are cheap n barely function. We ran to the store for a new can opener so at least that's new. Drawers they are kept in are dingy. Cupboards are full of expired stuff. Was an ok stay. We were hoping for a bit more comfort.

Such a great stay!
The house was amazing! We had a wonderful time playing games and hanging out. All the rooms were spacious and the beds were comfortable! It was a close drive into town and about a 30 min drive to Bear Valley. We will definitely be coming back to the area again!

Great cabin for our family over Christmas
My wife and I stayed at the cabin over Christmas, along with our young adult children and our dog. The cabin was an easy 25 minute drive to the lodge at Bear Valley Ski Resort. Arnold is a nice mountain town. (Pro-tip: rent your skis from SNAC on your way into town.) Anyway, the cabin was well equipped. The fireplace was very cozy, as was the bed in the master bedroom. The dishwasher and the stove all worked well. We didn't make use of the deck and the grill, and the hammock was put away for the winter. But I could see how pleasant it would be to relax there in the summer while grilling something. The local grocery store had an impressive local wine selection. The driveway could accommodate four vehicles, but we only had two. It could get crowded with four vehicles.

Cute cabin
This home was a good size for our group- 4 adults and one toddler. The house is cutely decorated and the bathrooms are nice. Perfect location. Our only wish was if there were bath mats for the floor and a nonslip surface to the bathtubs. The patio table on the deck could also use some love - we didn’t end up eating outdoors despite the good weather.

Not ideal for hot days
During non-hot days, this would have been a lovely stay. Our stay was during weather in the low 90’s. The house does not have air conditioning and the house could not cool off, even throughout the night. It was really difficult to sleep or get comfortable. We actually left a day early due to this. The house itself, and the location was great though.

Lots to do!
We were really impressed with the location of The Sanctuary! The pool was so close, inexpensive and never crowded. We took a quick dip in White Pines Lake, which was also so close! The scavenger hunt was a lot of fun, but we couldn't find two of the items. The best part was feeding the deer carrots from our hand. It was a bit hot without air conditioning, but this is to be expected. We would definitely stay here again!

When medical condition didn’t allow us to go, no one was reachable.
All our efforts to contact someone to rebook for another date, as advertised, went nowhere. We were charged the full fee without so much as a ‘hi, how come you weren’t here’. The policy is misleading and it is a lot of money and fees and cleaning costs that we ended up having to pay.

Cozy and rustic cabin
We had a lovely time staying at this adorable cabin in Arnold. Great location, close to the pool, lake, big trees, and restaurants. The cabin was comfortable and clean with cute personal touches and quirky decor. However it did not look like the photos. Lights on the deck were not up, some repair and TLC is needed. Also, be aware there is no AC so in the summer it’s super hot upstairs. More fans and room darkening shades/blinds in the front rooms would really help with the heat. We had a great time!

The property is close to 4 and the ammenities of town but feels secluded. There is plenty of parking. The cabin has a great floorplan, and the owner/management thoughtfully left many items to use if the renter does not have/didn't bring them. What a relaxing 4 days. Even when we had some problems with electrical gremlins, management got to it quickly. Thank you!

We enjoyed property and area. White pines lake, bear mountain, snowshoe brewery and Mexican restaurant were great. Property is a little hard to find at night. At corner of Alder and Lilac. Had 8 people with dog. Only issue was top bunk bed support slat broke, 1 piece wood. Also no heat in upstairs bedroom but property management brought portable heater which worked great. I would stay her again.

I went online to VRBO, chose the cabin w/ price, made reservation, transferred money- done! One week prior I received pertinent info, key lock combination via email. The advertisement for cabin was spot on, arrangements were super simple!

Quirky Cabin in the Woods
We took our annual girls weekend trip here. The cabin was perfect for the 4 of us. We loved the artistic touches and enjoyed exploring what each room offered. We loved White Pines lake (about a mile away) and spent a few afternoons there floating and paddle boarding. The deck was amazing and we enjoyed dinner and drinks each evening we were there. We will definitely book the cute cabin again! It met all of our needs and expectations

A Perfect Cabin in the Woods
We loved staying in this cabin. It was a peaceful and quiet setting in the woods with views of trees from every window. The cabin was very comfortable and sleeps a lot of people. The owners decorated it in a clever way using various antiques in a purposeful fashion. It is by Calaveras Big Trees State Park with incredible hiking trails. But Arnold is a VERY small town and not too many restaurants or places to buy groceries so bring food to cook. The town closes down early also! And don't arrive after dark like we did because it is hard to find in the dark!
