Oceanfront and oh so charming, Sunset Escape is ready to welcome you with stunning views of the Pacific Ocean and all of the comforts of home. As soon as you step foot inside, you will be greeted by a bright interior flooded with natural light, high-sned furnishings in each room, and white exposed ceilings that really give this space a beachy feel. Each day can start with a cup of coffee on the furnished deck as you listen to the waves crash in the near distance. When everyone needs a snack, simply hop into the full kitchen and take advantage of the gas range and modern appliances. When you have a little downtime spent indoors, there will be plenty of entertainment for everyone to enjoy, as a smart TV awaits in the living room and each bedroom for streaming all of your favorite shows or catching a ballgame. Plus, the furry member of the family won't have to stay home, as this home is dog-friendly!

What's nearby:
This beautiful beach getaway is perched three miles north of Bodega Bay in the quaint community of Carmet. Located directly across the street from Carmet Beach, you will have easy access to the sand. Plus, you can walk to other beaches nearby including Marshall Gulch Beach and Schoolhouse Beach. Make the short drive to the heart of Bodega and check out the excellent dining options including Lucas Wharf and The Tides (two local favorites). Wine tasting, horseback riding, golf, spa, and fishing are all minutes away. The quaint town of Occidental is only a 10-mile scenic drive away for antique and gift shopping. Plus, Goat Rock State Park at the mouth of the Russian River is a great place for seal watching during the pupping season and rock climbing as well.

Gorgeous view!
My husband and I stayed here with our dog for our honeymoon. The house is GORGEOUS! We checked in around sunset so we literally saw the sunset over the ocean from the big glass window. The beds are comfortable, the bathroom has a lot of room, and I loved the updated appliances. Check in process was a little difficult but we did figure it out. Nearest grocery store is 30 minutes no matter the direction so definitely shop on the way in.

Comfy beach house getaway
Really loved this place. Perfect, unobstructed view of the ocean. Even though right on the freeway, it was very quiet. Away from the crowds but less than 10 minutes to the heart of Bodega Bay restaurants and activities. Very comfortable accommodations with everything you need for a perfect getaway. Great place to go to relax and watch the waves crash on the rocks.

Worst storm ever
The first code they gave us didn’t work. There were no lights on the outside. Front door wouldn’t open cupboards under the sink wouldn’t close and then we got a leak in the roof spent less than 30 hours there had to turn around and come home in the worst storm ever. We have stayed there before and it was absolutely perfect. That’s why we came back. We will definitely come back. I’m sure everything will be fixed.

Loved the 180 degree ocean view & the waves were amazing after a storm. Enjoyed having a real fire in the fireplace. Decor is great. Kitchen could use a little organizing….everything’s there, just have to hunt for it. Thanks for sharing your place with us!

Best vacation ever
We have gone to quite a few beautiful places, but I can’t say enough about this spot you wake up in the morning, grab a cuppa coffee and go sit on the deck and listen to the ocean and then at night the beautiful sunsets, the kitchen, the living room, the whole space was just wonderful, so wonderful that we booked before we even left to come back in February Great place !!

Of course the view was amazing! Can't beat that. Being so close to the highway there is some noise and traffic but not a night or early morning. Sunsets are GORGEOUS! The electric kettle did not work, an ice maker would be terrific, but other than that, no complaints!

The views were breathtaking. The floors were not clean and there were very few blankets in the home. A few appliances did not work. Other than that it was a lovely stay, and I would stay again.

The location is great and the view is incredible. We loved exploring the tide pools at Carmet beach across the street and it’s truly the best place to watch the sunset every night. I almost didn’t book this house because the reviews weren’t great, but we have no complaints. We loved our stay here!

Fantastic location, house and backyard needs upgrade
If you are looking for location and the best ocean views, this house is exactly what you need. We were delighted by the location and easy access to the beaches. Thoroughly enjoyed the sunset form the large outdoor deck of this house. However the house wasn't clean, the sofas had a lot of dust. Please be aware that you need to bring salt, pepper, coffee. tea and anything you need for your stay as the house doesn't stock any of this. Our biggest disappointment was the overgrown, unclean and untended backyard. We had a lot of plans to BBQ and spend time in the backyard for our 3 plus days of vacation. There was dog poop everywhere in the backyard, no place to really walk and sit with overgrown bushes...on top of everything we saw two snakes ( one a garter snake, pretty harmless and good for the backyard) and another large snake which may have been a rattler. This was very unpleasant and inhibited us from spending time in the backyard. If you are charging close to three times more than other similar places ( including fees and taxes) for 3 nights for a couple.., the expectation is to have a clean house and backyard. Come to this house for the view and if nothing else mattes to you, you can ignore the unclean, overgrown backyard, the snakes, the broken windows, the non functioning AC, etc. Overall a below average experience for the price, there' s more available at this price which is par excellence.

We arrived to find dog poop on the backyard, in the driveway and in the grass next to the front door. White hair was on the sofa, which smelled of dog. Clearly it had not been vaccumed between renters (and the previous folks did not keep their dog off the furniture.) The bathroom ceiling was moldy, the shower curtain rod covered in rust and the shower curtain was caked in soap scum. Thr bathtub drain was clogged. We were up to our ankles in water after five minutes in the shower. A bird nested outside the back door, right next to a bedroom. It woke my kids up at 6 every morning and pooped all over the back entrance. The backyard was over grown and had rusted parts (wheelbarrow, broken firepit, tools) throughout making it unsafe for kids and dog. We called to complain and someone picked up the dog poop the next day but Vacasa didn't respond to our other complaints. We left a day early as a result.

We Missed It!
Great experience….easy all the way around! We stayed here many times under the previous management, and missed a couple of features. Would have enjoyed a front screen door to have open during the day…..and would have appreciated a working front porch light. We missed the curtain option at the front kitchen window, and would have preferred “unpilled” flannel sheets. We love the new front deck, and the observation chairs inside the bay window, and spent much time enjoying the magnificence of the ocean! Thank you for offering your home for rent, once again! We missed it! Teri & Therese PS….You might want to throw away the French Vanilla creamer in the fridge!

80th getaway
Arrived 4pm and greeted with lights & heat on and music playing! Comfy beds, clean & well utensiled kitchen. Front of house all windows with 180 views of the sea. (Two paths to beach right opposite, bit too difficult for us octogenarians!) Loved our two trips to Bodega Bay and to the Armstrong Redwoods, but most of all, we enjoyed this lovely clean, cozy home.

Views for days!!!
We do several rentals per year, and this house was amazing. First, the views!!! From the front porch, front living room or kitchen, you have an amazing view of the ocean. It is right on Hwy 1, however it did not bother us at all. Carmet beach is right away the street. We went over during the day when the tide was low and had adventures in the tide pools. The kitchen is well stocked which was perfect for my family as we cook a lot. There is a decent little store in town to pick up groceries if you need them. There are plenty of restaurants within a 5-10 minute drive. There were puzzles, games and even a few books. Which was amazing since I forgot mine. There is a smart tv and DVD player as well as cable for entertainment. The fireplace was wonderful. The house is laid out wonderfully. Even though it’s small, we all had enough room and never got in each other’s way. The bedrooms are very nice. There are only two things I would improve. One, to provide batteries for the remotes. One night the main remote stopped working and we had to go buy some in town. The second is the shower curtain rod needs to be replaced. It’s very rusted and hard to pull the curtain across to open and close. And in trying to do so it fell down on my son. Even these little issues, I would still give this rental 5 stars and would rent again!

Perfect place to breathe...
Due to unforeseen issues, I went to this beautiful property by myself and my dog over the Easter weekend and had a wonderful time. This was my first time traveling alone using Vrbo property and it was perfect. I relaxed, I went for walks on the beach with my dog and we traveled the surrounding area. Found a wonderful coffee shop/bakery in Duncan Mills, drove up to Ft Ross and hiked the area while listening to the seals in the distance. Great place to relax and breathe...
