Disgusting smell coming from toilet

Check in was late as our flight got in at 11pm. The boy on reception was very polite and check in was hassle free. However when we got to our room there was a horrible smell like sewage. After going to use the toilet and leaving the seat up we realised the smell was coming out of the toilet. I immediately went to complain to the boy at reception, who was friendly but only able to give us some air freshener. I asked for another room but they were fully booked. I asked if i could get compensation and he said he would speak to his mother. This was after midnight and I was travelling with my 7 year old. I complained about the smell again the next morning at check out and asked about the compensation. Another man was at reception, he had been told about the smell by his colleague and said he would make sure they used something to treat the toilet but he said there was nothing he could offer me. He said he could have given us a free breakfast but we had already eaten elsewhere. For any hotel, of any number of stars the smell of the room was unacceptable.

Warm welcome when checking in and during all interactions with staff. Bottle of rose in our room was a nice touch. Wonderful location. Didn’t have breakfast. Damp smell in room, but it’s an older, traditional property. Nice windows with shutters that could be opened allowing fresh air into the room. Would definitely stay again. Very good value.

Quick two night stay

Central Location close to many shops and restaurants, easy to around to other areas. Basic room, no frills. Bed was adequate, location great, Lot of hot water so nice shower. Simple breakfast. Fast and easy check in with friendly staff. East to get to from Gare Bordeaux (train stateion) to the Hotel.

This is a 2 star hotel in a 5 star location. Great price, working A/C, comfortable room, helpful staff, busy street but very quiet with windows closed, felt safe.

Fantastic Location

Best value for money Hotel that I could find in Bordeaux ( and I do my research ) without being out in the sticks. This Hotel is literally in the centre of town and all the main attractions. Staff were all extremely pleasant. As with all city centre hotels, it can be a little noisy at nights, but that didn't bother us. Very pleased with our stay at the Bleu de Mer and would highly recommend.

The staff were really helpful over us leaving luggage before checking in. The room was very pretty with a lovely view. Good strong shower and hairdryer. A nice touch to get some wine in the room. Fantastic situation right in the town but near to the trams to the station. The maps were very welcome. Some tea and coffee making in the room would be a nice improvement. But good value overall.
