A little tired
I stayed for 2 nights in the Mercure. Check in was a little slow. The reception looks impressive but the rooms and corridors are a little jaded and could do with some renovation. Breakfast was just ok, could do better. Overall decent hotel but my room was close to the elevator so quite noisy. Check out was 10:30 which was a little early for my liking.

I paid allot for this room because I wanted a property with a swimming pool. But your rotten Management did not bother to communicate that the pool is going to be rented out to a private function. I would have booked an alternate property if I knew. Greedy Management. Shame on you !!!

Noisy electronic key card door not fixed for three days, dirty and rundown facilities, when moved to a new room it had poor quality wifi and therefore tv access poor. Cleaners left my room door ajar the whole day with all my belongings in it. No effort from staff to apologise. Wouldn’t stay here again. Instead I stayed at Rydges for two nights while there was the noisy buzzing door issue and Rydges in Southbank is excellent.

The Mercue offered a clean serviced room with all the basic essentials in an amazing location. It was unfortunate timing that the lifts failed and over my three day stay, the hotel was down to one lift only. Please be aware that the upstairs restaurant and bar including pool might be closed to hotel guests if it is booked for a private function. I was disappointed that both Friday and Saturday during my stay this area was not available to paying guest, nor was I notified at the time of booking, checking in or during my stay directly.

Out of the 3 lifts, only 1 was working. At one point there were no lifts working. As we were on the 10th floor, with an elderly family member who cant do stairs, we were effectively stuck on our room for the night. Management need to prioritise maintainence of lifts and hire more staff. The staff were wonderful, trying their best to appease unhappy customers.

Staff were friendly and very helpful, and room was good value for money. Location cannot be beat. The only drawback (and this is for people with mobility issues or wheelchairs) was that the accessible room door was heavy (good for soundproofing) and was difficult to open while using a wheelchair or other mobility devices.
