Magical Family Friendly Cottage Sleeps 6-8 Bodmin, Tintagel Poldark Cornwall UK

A Saturday to Saturday Check In Property, Fern Cottage is a beautiful recently restored & enhanced traditional cottage tucked away in a tiny hamlet just 5 miles from the idyllic and magical North Cornish coast beach of Trebarwith Strand and on the very edge of wild and beautiful Rough Tor area of Bodmin Moor. Sleeping 6-8 in 3 bedrooms, plus options to use a cot and double futon bed, Fern Cottage boasts 2 bathrooms, 2 sitting rooms and a lovely kitchen with a Rayburn at its heart. In addition we offer free speedy WiFi (20Mb) & Freeview on two flat screen TVs plus an enchanting small enclosed garden with BBQ! We want to make it easy for famillies to go on holiday, so for those with younger guests we offer sturdy stairgates, travel cot and highchair/booster seat. We also have body boards, buckets and spades, sun shelters and parasols all available for you to use. Our family-friendly home from home is now available for you to rent! Pets: Please do not book until this has been discussed. A maximum of two beautifully behaved fur babies only on the condition that own bedding is provided and your pets are happy not to jump on any furniture and must on no account go upstairs please! Additional cleaning charges will be levied if there is evidence of this and this may include the cost of new bedding or sofa covers. Please note Fern Cottage rental weeks run from Saturday to Saturday.

Heating throughout the cottage is by modern slim electric panel heaters. The immersion heater keeps a plentiful supply of hot water. Rental weeks run Sat to Sat. Minimum 7 days. The grass in the garden never grows for it is of the artificial variety! Please do not use the BBQ on it! This is our family's holiday cottage and you are welcome to use any of the DVD's, toys, books or equipment we leave out. Please be kind enough to treat them with care and leave them in the state you found them. Outside: The Garden – our small but perfectly formed private South facing garden is level, enclosed and peaceful. Patio furniture and barbecue are provided for those sunny days and warm nights! The Piggery!- Our beautifully appointed former pigsty (every house in the row had one for keeping a ‘family pig’ to fatten for high days and holidays and we are lucky to have two!) at the back of the garden is now a fine Utility Room and Workshop. Here you’ll find the BBQ, garden furniture, a further fridge, Belfast sink, washing machine and tumble-dryer. There is also a stock of body boards, crab-lines, buckets and spades, sun shelters, and a parasol for guests to use! Utility Room: The Piggery Utility Room and Workshop outside. Extra fridge, Belfast sink, new washing machine and new tumble-dryer. Body boards, crab-lines, buckets and spades, sun shelters and parasol, BBQ and garden furniture all included for you to use. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Bed linen is included but please bring your own Cot bedding. Towels are supplied for use in the house only. Please bring your own beach towels. Our housekeeper is available in an emergency and contact details will be given to you prior to arrival. Other: Glazed Entrance Porch – with plenty of space for muddy boots! The Garden - our small but perfectly formed garden is enclosed and peaceful. Patio furniture and barbecue are provided for those sunny days and warm nights.

Bookings run from Saturday to Saturday only and any other bookings will be rearranged to reflect this.

We are so sorry but the cottage is not suitable for the elderly infirm or disabled. The staircase is narrow and all bathrooms require climbing stairs.

Thank you so much! Please message me if you'd like to discuss Fern Cottage North Cornwall further or enquire about bringing a dog or not running Saturday to Saturday!

Thank you for looking

Cornwall stay
Fern cottage is a lovely little cottage. It’s let down by not being cleaned throughly. The cottage stank of dogs wee, the mop was disgusting and unfit to use. The kitchen work surfaces could do with being oiled as they are wooden and due for a good clean. Upstairs was clean, beds and bedding clean and fresh. However both bathrooms were not so I had to give them a good clean myself. Fern cottage could be really lovely with a competent cleaner and a lick of paint in the kitchen. Despite all this we did enjoy our stay, Fern cottage is ideally situated for lots of interesting places and I’m sure once these things are addressed we would like to return at some point.

Aaa getaway retreat
The property was quaint, small, quite, just what we needed for two of us and 2 other adults visiting for one week. A little challenging for adults in our 70s with the different levels of stairs. I would recommend to friends who want to get away,,

Camelford comfy cottage
Had a lovely week staying in this unique stone cottage just outside Camelford. Great base for exploring many of Cornwalls popular towns and villages. Also close to Bodmin Moor, where a walk up Roughtor is a must! Camelford had an excellent pub and chip shop as well as a Spar and Co-op for essentials!

Cute cottage in reach of everywhere
We had such a lovely week in Fern Cottage. We were 3 adults and it had plenty of space for us to do things together- and separately! Very spacious bedrooms, 2 cosy sitting rooms and a kitchen complete with an Aga style stove. Camelford itself is not that exciting a place, but it has all you need and there are lovely walks very close to the house and fab beaches and other places not too far away. Host Julia could not have been more helpful or flexible- highly recommended!

Leaking roof - Needs to be fixed.
The house in itself is nice. It is in not a bad location and was warm and comfortable on a wet week in October. The main problem was that the roof leaks badly into the master bedroom, through a large plasterboard sheet with 8 halogen spotlights in it. The owner was called as soon as this was known, and advised it only happens when it rains hard. Which it did, every day. When mentioning the lights, I was advised that the electrical circuit was safe, which it can only be if done to marine specifications. You would fix the roof first! I shut down power to the master bedroom and located a bucket under the drip, however there is water evidence coming down into the lounge and the ceiling lights in the roof had started to fail. We moved to the second bedroom. Fix this and it is a good property. Until then it should not be used.

Goregous Stay At Fern Cottage!
We had a wonderful week in Cornwall and Fern Cottage was an excellent base. A lovely, homely, quirky cottage which has been lovingly updated and enjoyed by others. Plenty of room for our three children, who loved the use of the body boards...and became quite addicted to the surf!! It was a great place to relax after a hard day eating fish and chips, ice creams and pasties!!

Fern Cottage is a cosy but deceptively spacious cottage in a pretty and quiet hamlet.
Fern Cottage is a cosy but deceptively spacious cottage in a pretty and quiet hamlet. It is in a perfect spot for trips to many beaches and popular towns and villages on the north Cornwall coast but also on the edge of Bodmin Moor so it provides the best of both worlds. Recommended for families, walkers and dog owners. The owners are very helpful and responsive and have created a homely and comfortable holiday home. It was a great pleasure to stay there and we hope to return. Thank-you

Lovely cottage which has been thoughtfully modernised in keeping with the original features.
Warm and welcoming with tea, coffee and biscuits. The cottage was quirky but with a delightful sun room and gorgeous master bedroom with en-suite. Close to picturesque spots such as Port Isaac, Padstow and Roughtor. Our October stay was blessed with good weather and we enjoyed blustery walks along the coast with our dog. We really enjoyed our stay, thank you.

Great cottage, lovely location only a few miles from either the moors or the super beaches
We had a great stay, plenty of room for 5 adults and a teenager plus the dog. Within easy distance of great places to visit for days out, some lovely places to eat and relax. We had a great time despite the weather, only small issue was parking when we had 2 cars but managed to get one car where advised and the other in the next road. Will definitely be on our list to revisit.

Lovely little cottage with all the home comforts.
Fern cottage is perfect for exploring the beautiful coast and inland to the moors. Really characterful and with a lovely little garden, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. It's ideal for families, very child friendly from the stair gates provided to the big box of family games and dvd's. Camelford village is a short walk away and has a wonderfully quirky pub with delicious food and a supermarket and take away options. We enjoyed the use of the barbecue at the cottage and were truly sorry to leave after a relaxing week. Definitely recommended!
