Cheboygan stay
Very beautiful home in a nice neighborhood! Plenty of lounging space for all 13 of us! Kitchen nicely stocked, plenty of towels. We did have one big issue…the stove/oven stopped working the very first morning we were there! Even after speaking to the host and numerous trips to the basement nothing we tried made it work! Very frustrating not to have a stove and no one came the 4 days we were there to look at it! Also, listing is a little miss leading! 2 of the rooms with twin beds consisted of twin mattresses on the floor in the upstairs eaves. We could not stand up straight in either side and I’m only 5’5”!!! Very cramped arrangements and not what I considered bedrooms! Also queen mattress in office is actually just an air mattress on the floor! Property host may need new cleaning people as home was not ready for guests as towels, dishes and some items not put away or cleaned!

Ideal small-town vacation
Randy was an excellent host, great with communication! We had a last-minute kennel cancellation and needed to bring our dog with us and Randy worked with us so we could make it happen! The home was lovely, clean, comfortable and an excellent space for our group of friends to hang out for a little while and spend some time together. The listing said 11 am checkout and the book on-property said 10 am checkout so I did have to confirm that, but as I said, Randy was great to work with and communication was a breeze.

Eh.
Randy tried to be accommodating, but I feel like this listing is a little bit misleading. The Air Conditioning only cools part of the house. The downstairs bedroom only had an air mattress in it. The upstairs room, which the listing says it contains two QUEEN BEDS, only has two twin size mattresses on it. The online listing says checkout is 11 am; Randy's book, in the kitchen, says 10 am. This book also states that animals need to remain downstairs and crated, when left at the house, alone. However, there was animal fur all over the house and the upstairs smelled of animals. The king size bed linens were covered in animal fur. There were fur balls in the corners of the kitchen and random band aids on the floors, around the house. There was no propane in the grill, but my family bought (and left) a propane tank at the house, because we kept tripping the breaker of the range, and could not cook inside. There was also a ceiling leak, in the front entry way, from all the rain, that I notified Randy about. -He did give me a slight refund for all the inconveniences. Otherwise, the house is absolutely GORGEOUS. The location is great. The kitchen was stocked full of herbs and spices and enough pots and pans and eating utensils to keep everyone happy. There were a lot of towels to use, for showers or the beach. The back yard and front porch seating areas were cute. I'd recommend bringing some fans for extra comfort and washing the linens before you sleep.

Definitely not as advertised...
The Host Randy was helpful and was responsive. The house was not clean, at least to our standards. Now it is a very old house so we were not expecting the Ritz but it was not clean. A lady's panties from a previous guest in the chair in the dining room. It took my wife an hour to pick up the dried dog poop from the previous guests. The kitchen bathrooms just were not overall cleaned. The upstairs was pretty clean. This house needs money put into it. The dishwasher was broken and wouldn't drain. You cant have ANY two appliances going at any one time or you would trip the circuit breaker. Then you have to go down in a super creepy basement with TONS of spiderwebs to flip it back on. You can't have breakfast and coffee, you need to pick one. The firepit is just on the cement...so when enjoying a fire an explosion like a gunshot would go off. The fan in the 1st floor bathroom is literally in the shower with open wires. We were exhausted after a 21 hour drive and found out there was not a bed in the master. It is an air mattress. House has potential and Randy was helpful but this house and the house cleaner need a lot of work.

House with a lot of character
Overall, it was a good stay. However, we were extremely disappointed in finding air matresses in two of the rooms. Owner responded to inquiries quickly.

spacious place, cozy town, near mackinac
We had 2 families staying together in this place and found it had more than enough room for all of us. The porch swing was a nice touch. The neighborhood was quiet and the town of Cheboygan offers good food and dessert. We were a 15 min drive away from the Mackinac star line ferry, which was very convenient. Randy, the owner, communicated very well. The stove was out of service during our stay, but he supplied us with an electric stovetop which sufficed for our needs. One small problem was that the outside garbage had not been collected by the time we got there, so we were unable to throw our trash in the bin as it was overly full. That was probably due to it being a holiday weekend. Other than that, we recommend this place especially if you plan to go to Mackinac Island but don't want to stay on the island.

Girls Trip In Cheboygan
We chose this listing because the description fits a lot of our needs. Randall was also an awesome communicator. He answered all our questions promptly. His customer service was great. He had an issue with one of the appliances right before our trip and was quick to give us a heads up. He took the extra step to supply us with temporary solutions and waived our early check in fee. The house is a beautiful Victorian home, and he has given it lots of character. We were able to walk downtown to grab food. The neighborhood was very friendly and safe. Overall, we had lots of fun. If I had to supply feedback to make it even more enjoyable, I would say the listing photos are outdated. There is one of two twin beds, and that room is different now, containing low bunk beds. I see that the description on the photo lists this change but it was misleading initially. Also, the listing does not mention how many of the beds are air mattresses. This made sleeping arrangements tricky. We had envisioned sitting out by the fire in the back yard and enjoying the garden, however there was no covered grilling setup and all the patio furniture and fireplace had been removed. The yard was also covered in dog poop. We wanted to play games in the evenings, but we quickly discovered that the entire house is mainly dependent on natural lighting. There are decorative antique lights throughout the home but nothing that allowed us to see our card games. There were some rooms upstairs with no lighting.

Beautiful home
The house is absolutely beautiful. We had 13 people, it's so hard to find any place that will fit that many people, but this worked so well and is just gorgeous. Randy was easy to communicate with, the house was fully stocked with everything we needed from pots and pans to towels to laundry detergent. We did bring our own coffee pot (Keurig was not going to cut it with 6 adults!) but there were still mugs for all of us! The kids really appreciated the bikes, they took a few early morning rides around the neighborhood. The upstairs gets much warmer than the downstairs, I wish we had found the fans before the last day! We were a little disappointed that two of the beds were air mattresses, but with 13 people, we were just glad we weren't sleeping on the floor. All in all, it was a great trip, it worked out well, the house was beautiful, and Randy was a great host. Would definitely stay again and would recommend to anyone considering a stay in the area!

Felt just like home
This was our first ever actual family vacation and we loved every second of it! We thought we couldn't ever go out with a family of 10 on vacation (especially within budget) but we found the one! We are already thinking of making this an annual thing specifically at this house. The house is so big and spacious that we all fit comfortably. We had 6 kids and 4 adults and everyone had their own bed thankfully (with the toddler sleeping with mom being the exception). A surplus of towels and blankets (what we need most) were at our disposal. We don't know how else to say it but eveything just felt like it was in the right place. We walked in and it just felt like home. Moving around the kitchen and the whole house just felt natural. On top of that, there are quite a few things to do around the house as well thankfully. The beach is about 5 minute drive away and Mackinac Island is just a 20 minute drive! There are little coffee shops and ice cream shops walking distance from the house. Then if need be, grocery stores are a 5 minute drive away. Or if you dont feel like cooking, there are plenty of little restaurants walking distance (or driving) as well.
