The good: The interior of the apt is beautiful. It's a very large space for the area. The upgrades and finishes were lovely. The location is fantastic! Walking distance to lots of places and the metro/train/bus stations and stops. There are two grocery stores nearby as well.
The bad: The exterior was awful. The apt is in a mixed use building, which is fine. The neighbors were really loud and the building seems to be the last building going through a renovation in the area. The bottom floor consists of several bars. At night we heard bar conversations, people fighting, throwing up, and more till about 3am. Then construction began about 5am. We would walk out of the apt to find broken glass and bodily fluids everywhere. Like most buildings from the time, the stairs are very narrow and not what we in the USA would call ADA compliant, plus it's more like 3.5 landings of a walk up with very tight turns. As you walk up the stairs, the walls and railings were covered in graffiti, and lots of things that smelled like urine, blood, and food. Also, the stove did not work. At first the heater didn't work, but that was a mistake on our part not understanding how to use it.
We are a family of 5 with small kids. This apt did not fit our needs. We expressed this to management. They were very nice, sending out someone to show us how to turn on the heat and cleaning part of the stairway closest to the door. In the end, the noise and mess were too much and we left several days early.
