We stayed at the Blue Lion for two nights. We received a friendly welcome by the bar staff who had to manage the pub and the hotel on their own. Apart from a cleaner on the morning of the second day, personnel seemed to be on the premises only during pub opening hours. Everything, including breakfast was self-service. However, after a while we became aware that the shop opposite belonged to the same company, and I guess we could have contacted them had the need arisen.
All we needed was provided, and in the end that is all one can expect. One improvement I can suggest is to provide the ancient single-glazed window with a stay, so that it can be kept in a partially open position if ventilation is desired over night.
I don't think I would have chosen this particular establishment for a longer holiday, but it was perfectly adequate for a short stay.
