Frustrating, had to leave early
Azlan has a system set up with a semi-automated management platform, self-check-in, and a thorough cleaning service that should make almost all guest experiences go smoothly. However, he was unable to act and make things right when unanticipated problems came up.For my stay, a smoke detector in the unit beeped loudly every minute or so, probably due to a low battery. I reported the issue as soon as I checked in (4pm), asking that it be addressed. I continued to message about it over the next two days, with no real engagement or instructions from the host besides some vague assurances after I asked to stay elsewhere my second night. I could not find a stepladder to inspect things myself.To be clear: I never feared for my safety; the noise was just maddening. Azlan explained later that he hadn’t been aware of the alarm before I arrived and also mentioned the long holiday weekend making response difficult.From my point of view though, this didn’t bode well for the rest of my 13-night stay. I didn’t want to be a sucker that spent another intolerable night in the unit. After giving Azlan many opportunities to respond, two sleepless nights, and days spent avoiding the unit, I checked out after my second night, recognizing my prepayment was a sunk cost. He apologized but didn’t acknowledge that the noise was unacceptable. There was nothing done to otherwise rectify the situation. I likely wasted the cost of this 2 week rental on 2 days of discomfort and uncertainty.
