So let me say upfront that this is a cozy little cottage on a unique, beautiful property. However, I have to disagree with the listing's claims of how private and secluded it is. Frankly, the reality is that you're essentially in someone's front yard. There's a very large private residence a few hundred feet behind the cottage and a local road that runs right by the property. There are some trees and foliage between both of these and the cottage, but both are visible from its back porch (and hence the backporch is visible from both!). Additionally, the observation deck is behind the larger house, so you have to walk through its backyard a bit to get to it. To be fair, the residents of the larger house were gone during our stay, but knowing they could come back at any time made it very hard to feel comfortable there.
Also, while Darien is listed as the location of the property, that's really just the nearest town and it's about 10-15 minutes away. There's very little around the property except for other houses and churches. We had to drive almost 30 minutes to get to a grocery store and around 45-60 minutes to get to most of the places of interest. This isn't something the property owners have control over, obviously, but it bears mentioning.
Finally, I have to mention the property manager Jan. This would have been a two star review, but I'm adding an extra star for how wonderful she was. The wifi was out most of the weekend and she went well out of her way to try to get it fixed. On top of that, she was just really responsive and friendly in general. If this were just a review of her, it'd be five stars!
