Dubrovnik feels like a jungle of hotels, holiday apartments, and rooms when looking for accomodation. Luckily, Apartment Gordana/Doris was an excellent choice for my wife and me.
When we arrived, the incredibly nice Doris was ready to welcome us with chilled juice in the noon heat, a map of the local area, and some great insider tips on where to go. It was the sort of personal greeting that you don't see in hotels.
The studio apartment itself was neat, clean, and had everything we needed for our one-week stay. The pergola-covered terrace outside with a view of the sea outside was absolutely great, and I already miss sitting there. The surrounding area is pretty, and everything is a lot closer than it looks on the map. Several supermarkets, a bus stop, two bakeries, a few local bars, and a pizzeria are easily within walking distance, and twenty minutes (downhill!) will take you to Old Town, the Gruz harbour, or the zig-zagging walking trail up the hill. The stairs and roads back up were easier than I expected, and we didn't use the bus once.
In other words: If you want something clean, personal, and far better located than it looks on the map, Aparment Gordana/Doris is highly, highly recommended.
