We feel scammed
When we booked this there were no pictures of the outside because it is pretty awful. It is definitely intentional. We weren't impressed when we pulled up. After going inside we discovered that it is a duplex. Not just one property to ourselves. It overwhelmingly it stank of stale cigarettes. It was as gross on the inside as it was on the outside. We put in our code and enter to find that there was a half-naked man smoking a cigarette in the living room. So that was great! We immediately left and called the manager of the property. He assured us that it was an accident, and everything would be fixed if we came back later. We didn't want to stay in a place where some random person had been walking around half naked. The manager reluctantly said the cleaners would come that night. We work in wildland fire, 13 to 20 hour shifts and didn't really want to wait around while exhausted and filthy. When our boss was updated on the situation, he told us the property was unsuitable since we had government property with us that needed to be secure. On top of that our female co-worker felt she would not be safe there. If we had originally checked in when we wanted to all of our luggage and equipment would have been alone with this stranger. We ended up finding places at the barracks and with other co-workers. It was just an awful situation, so we wanted a refund. The property manager was completely unhelpful and so was VRBO. We still have not been refunded. Don't stay here.

Disappointed
No check in instructions were sent to me so I had to find the number and call the host, no answer. Called again, no answer but he called back. Got to the property and let him know we were outside. After 6 hrs on the road and trying to check in an hour and a half after the time stated (4) our space was not ready yet. The host met us outside and stated that he had issues getting the previous folks out and had to call to get help to have them leave. So we had to wait outside while he fixed beds and “cleaned up”. The floor was sticky everywhere, old food was left in the refrigerator and cupboards by previous tenants and towels needed to be dried and folded (which I ended up needing to do). We couldn’t use the smaller bathroom shower due to a leak to the lower tenants ceiling. The kitchen sink also started leaking into the lower tenants kitchen and we had to go back to let the handy man in so we missed our dinner reservations. (After he hollered at me about water damage and basically blamed us when we’d just gotten there and all I had done at the sink was wash a couple bowls and spoons for the girls to use to eat with since they were still dirty after coming out of the dishwasher). There was no dish rag or anything to so the dishes with so I used paper towel. No check out instructions so I didn’t know where to put our trash. If I hadn’t paid already I definitely would NOT have stayed there after running into the check in issues and seeing how dirty it was.
