I want to start off by saying we WOULD return to this property again. The location was perfect for our needs, a golf cart ride away from the beach, and a nice distance from the crowds of the city of Galveston. Additionally, it was spacious for our needs.
This being said, this rental unit, managed by a company, was lacking the basic "comforts" of home:
-While the place was clean, the crew clearly mops with the doors OPEN. There was dust and hair behind every door. Likewise, all of the white room doors and the kitchen cabinets were dirty from fingerprints, and dirty mop marks on the bottom of room doors.
-3 rolls of toilet paper are supplied per bathroom. This is NOT adjusted per your length of stay, and ours was a full 7 days with 4 adult/ 4 kids.
-There are kitchen towels, but no kitchen clothes/rags, and only one roll of paper towels.
-There is a basketball hoop our kids LOVED using, but we flew to Texas and had to buy a basketball upon arrival. I assumed a ball would be provided for the hoop.
-It was chilly, and there were not enough blankets provided. This was quickly fixed upon request, but disappointed I needed to ask.
-The bedrooms have nice closets, but only a single night stand to store clothes. There were about 4 -6 hangers in the entire unit. We called and this was quickly fixed, but I feel bad for the crew running these things over all the time. We were delivered about a dozen, but we had two families staying a week. Purchased more at Walmart.
-Only a few mix match wine glasses, probably left behind by past guests. On the other hand, 4 or 5 wine bottle openers were pprovided u. I wwould think wine glasses should be included in the basic set up.
-There were dozens of steak knives, but few cooking knives. The kitchen knives that were available were dull. I requested kitchen knives, and was brought more steak knives, which was funny actually.
Honestly, this home is nice, and we would stay again. I point all these things out because they could so easily be remedies by the management company. This is clearly not an "owner/caregiver" present situation. When we had a need, we were leaving a vm with a national company (which isn't a bad thing, just a point to note about who you are renting from.
We RECOMMEND this unit, but bring your own:
TP and paper towels; boogie boards, beach chairs, beach supplies; basketball; dish soap, dishwasher soap, laundry detergent, etc if staying more than a weekend.
