Mawmaw Uschie's private room is located upstairs and to the right, providing a private retreat within a shared space. You will have limited access to shared common areas with the host's family and other guests. Enjoy the garden and city skyline views from your room.
Important Information for Your Stay:

Pet Policy: We warmly welcome up to one pet per booking. Please inform us in advance if you are bringing a cat as there is a specific procedure. The pet fee is based on one low-shed pet; additional fees may apply for multiple pets, high-shed pets, or longer stays. For our feline guests, we require a litter containment system to be in use at all times. Additionally, pet owners must ensure that their pets have some means to prevent clawing of furniture.

Items NOT to Flush: To avoid plumbing issues, please do not flush any feminine products, paper towels, or wipes down the toilet.
•
Additional Cleaning Fee: If the required cleaning exceeds 5 hours, a fee of $80 per hour will be charged. Our cleaning team, Simply Organized and Clean, ensures a high standard of cleanliness and their time is valuable. Pet owners will be billed for any additional cleaning required beyond normal wear and tear.
•
Plumbing Misuse Fee: Misuse of plumbing fixtures will result in a minimum $100-$600 plumbing repair fee.
•
Damaged Linens Fee: Guests will be responsible for any replacement costs of damaged linens. Pet owners will be billed for any damage to linens beyond normal wear and tear.

Kitchen Access: Please note that there is no kitchen access for guests. The kitchen is Joy's sanctuary, and to ensure the best guest experience while maintaining her peace of mind, she does not allow kitchen use by guests to prevent any cleanliness issues that might lead to a bad review.

Laundry: For guests staying 30 days or more, we offer one laundry load per week with unscented detergent—yours or ours—and require 24 hours notice so we can get our laundry moved through.

We’re an independent guest home rental with a purpose—creating a welcoming space while also supporting Guilford County high school students with learning differences. Through hands-on experiences in this home, students gain valuable skills that help them grow.

This private upstairs bedroom is connected to another private room, Grandma Dottie's, by a Jack-and-Jill en suite bathroom (see floorplan photo). While we live downstairs, you’ll have a private, comfortable bedroom to unwind. Your room includes a dorm-sized refrigerator, microwave, iron, and cleaning tools for convenience. Trash and recycling are picked up on Mondays (except holidays). Please dispose of waste in the designated bins behind the house.

Shared Spaces
Leave the bathroom in respectful condition and let us know if it needs attention.
Enjoy the side porch and two rocking chairs.
Our landscaper and pest control service will periodically access the yard and crawlspace. If you notice bugs inside, please clean up food crumbs, spills, and message us to request pest control service inside the home.
Furniture & Decor
Please don’t rearrange furniture or hang or attach anything on the walls.

Quiet Hours
Be mindful of noise levels from 9 PM to 9 AM to respect our neighbors.

Checkout
Set HVAC to 68-72°F
Remove all trash to outdoor bins

Report any accidental damage

Pet waste must be disposed of in designated outdoor bins.
Excess cleaning fee of $80 per hour for pet waste, fur, or damage to furnishings.
Direct pets to non-grass areas to prevent lawn damage.
The pet fee covers cleaning for one low-shed, small to medium pet. For multiple pets or high-shed pets, please schedule mid-stay cleaning.
