We had a marvelous family vacation on the beautiful, quiet beaches of Fort Morgan. I highly recommend this area. The house was functional with lots of space for 8 adults and 2 small children. The kitchen was stocked with every tool or gadget or dish you could want. The beds were comfortable. The screen porch was a wonderful place to gather. The location directly on the beach was fabulous. What made the house disappointing was that it was in dire need of attention and repair. While the house was "surface clean" (bedding, counters, toilets etc) there was thick dust on ceiling and exhaust fans, dirt, sand and wrappers under the beds, and roaches in the kitchen drawers. The doors and railings were filthy. The airconditioner leaked all over gifts we had stored in the closet and it was obvious the filter had not been changed in years! The screen door was torn and two of the chairs on the screen porch were broken...luckily no one was hurt. There were huge holes in the drywall with furniture pushed in front to hide them. A couple gallons of fresh paint would have made the outside so much less dilapitated. The VRBO pictures were obviously staged...the furniture was different and there was no beautiful cushioned deck furniture as shown in the photos. When we brought this to the attention of the management on day one they said they would get it delivered...on the night of day 5 they brought a few cheap plastic chairs! Also, we asked if they could replace multiple burnt out lightbulbs and while a guy came to do it he left with 4 of them still out. This house could be so much better as it has a great space and good bones but it is obvious no one cares much. It is worse that it was presented as much better than it was and that the management and cleaning crew is not doing their job. Also, we didn't actually mind being so far from the center of Gulf Shores as it was quieter, but they list it as Gulf Shores instead of Fort Morgan...it's a good 25 minutes from town. Being honest would go a long way towards what to expect.
