It is a truly 5 star hotel - great room, amenities, and service. I tried all onsen facilities - the private one on our balcony, and two public ones with stunning views. Both kaiseki dinner and buffet breakfast were great. Cold drinks, coffee and ice cream were all free in the lobby. The only small issue was to the transportation. There are a couple of buses if you can do that, but getting a taxi out of the hotel was not easy. Luckily we had Go taxi app. It is 15 min walk from the open air museum. We enjoyed the walk and the museum.

Beautiful property! The kaiseiki meal was top notch, the onsens were beautiful. I just wish the inside baths could have differing temperatures instead of having similar temperatures (would have been nice if one was even hotter).

My best hotel experiment in Japan bar none!!!
I normally don’t write reviews as I’m usually too lazy but I feel that I have to mention my exceptional experience at the Tenyu hotel. The hotel staff were extremely friendly and treated me like a VIP guest. The hotel was clean and had a breathtaking view of the Hakone mountains. The room are styled like traditional Japanese decor which added to the authentic experience. The staff attended to my every need and made me feel at home. I got the package to get breakfast and dinner included with my stay. I dined at the tepanyaki restaurant and the food was delicious. The chief chef, Ryo Ogawa, tepanyaki skills were amazing and the beef and garlic fried rice were exceptional. The waiter who served me (sorry I forgot his name but he used to live in Tokyo) was so kind and attentive to my needs. The onsen was amazing as the one in the 6th floor overlooks the mountain almost like an infinity pool and the one on the 5th floor mimics a waterfall. Overall this was the best hotel I’ve stayed at in Japan so far and I definitely will be coming back again, probably yearly!
