An OK place but with terrible management
Actually the cabin was spacey and OK to stay in as long as you don't mind reguarly sweeping out cockroaches
and mostly have cold showers due to a somewhat unreliable water heating. Due to a warm climate I reckon that is not a problem.
These things were no problem and we had a great week on Rapa Nui.
It is located quite far from town so you will need your own transport when staying here.
What was the worst thing was the attitude of the dude that owned the cabin, really arrogant and full of lies.
When we arrived it seemed that no one had been in the cabin for ages, it was really disgusting and filled with dirt and dead cockroaches.
It also turned out that none of the contact where on the island, all contacts were on the mainland in Santiago.
Great, we had to use my Swedish phone and make several expensive international calls to get him to finally fix someone to come and clean the cabin (it took her several hours due to the disgusting mess it was...)
Some really wonderful neighbours tried to help out as much as they could, they took photos of the mess and said they would send them to Sernatur (Servicio Nacional de Turism), apparently according to them it was not the first time this had happened. The same neighbours excused for what they referred to as "people from the mainland who do not care about tourists, only in the money they pay".
So I strongly suggest avoiding this place and instead support the local people on the island.
