First of all let me say that I owned a place on Toledo Bend for over 20 years and know the lake well. That includes not only some prime places to fish, but also what’s available and what’s not on both the Texas and Louisiana sides of the lake. Now that my places to stay there are found on VRBO, I highly recommend staying here. First of all it’s located “mid lake”. There are a couple of good restaurants within a 5 to 10 minute drive…..one on the Texas side and one on the Louisiana side of the lake. There are also convenience stores, a hardware store, two good fishing tackle stores, and a grocery store a short
drive from the house. Please note that this is not the case for a number of places that are available on Toledo Bend that require much further drives to pick up needed supplies, or a meal out at a restaurant if so desired.
Everything we needed in the kitchen was there…….pots, pans, dishes, cooking utensils, basic spices and even two
coffee makers with one being a Keurig (so bring your K cups!) The view of the cove and lake are great, and the pier gives you an even greater appreciation of your view.
For you serious bass fishermen that don’t have a lot of experience on Toledo Bend, just let me say that it’s a big, big lake and I find that being mid-lake has a definite advantage. The fishing can be very good right there by the house, but if you do want to fish north or south, you can trailer in either direction in a decent amount of time.
And last but certainly not least……I can’t say enough good things about Keith. He’s just super guy, very helpful, and if you do need him, he’s available within minutes if you simply send him a text. If it sounds like I’m going to rent this place again, you’re right.
