“The Studio at St Mary's Glacier” is a cozy 1-bedroom condo providing the perfect respite for 1-4 people. This rental is nestled amongst idyllic Colorado mountains at approximately 10,000-ft above sea level. It can be accessed via a scenic 20-minutes drive from I-70, along Fall River Road. This is the perfect launchpad for your CO mountain adventures... you can literally walk to the trailhead for Saint Mary's Glacier. This is a 1.9-mile well-used trail featuring a beautiful lake. Hike is considered moderate and is dog-friendly (on leash).

The interior of this home has been recently updated with fresh paint and furnishings. You'll have everything you need to make meals, get a good night's rest, and prepare for tomorrow's adventure. In unit washer/dryer. Free WiFi.

This condo is located in Idaho Springs, where gold was first discovered in CO in 1859. Downtown retains much of its old, wild west charm, honoring its rich mining heritage with carefully preserved museums and historic sites, including Argo Gold Mine and Mill. Miner Street, lined with fabulous local restaurants / breweries, locally-owned boutiques. Idaho Springs is a small town with big personality, including mine tours, rafting trips, zip lining, hiking, Indian Hot Springs, family parks and more…

Please note: This condo is one of 4 units on property. The Studio may be accessed via two flights of external stairs to the top floor of the building. Each rental unit has a private entrance. Ample parking.

Although this home is located on a county-maintained road, it is very steep. From June through August, a front-wheel drive car is enough; however from November to May it is REQUIRED to be traveling in a vehicle that provides either AWD or 4 wheel drive capabilities.

While the property is on a School Bus Route / County-maintained and plowed roadway, during the winter months a 4 wheel drive vehicles required.

PETS:
Pets are welcome here. There is a $150 refundable security deposit and a $50/pet non-refundable fee. Please pick up after your pet. There is an outside trash bear-proof trash receptacle for pet waste (must be bagged).

**HOUSE RULES:
- Maximum occupancy: 4 adults
- Tenant stated on Agreement/Booking must be at least twenty-five (25) years-old and acknowledges that they will occupy the property during the entire tenancy.
- Absolutely NO smoking in the home. No parties or events. Dogs welcome upon prior approval and additional fee.

CANCELLATION POLICY:

We follow a strict cancellation policy on all websites.

If you must cancel your reservation, please be aware that cancellations must occur at least 30 days prior to arrival date. If cancellation occurs 30 days or more prior to arrival date all monies will be refunded with the exception of a $100 administrative fee. GUESTS THAT DO NOT CANCEL WITHIN THE 30-DAY TIME FRAME WILL BE CHARGED THE FULL AMOUNT. Travel Insurance is recommended, especially when traveling in the winter in CO.

The Property
Facility was updated nicely. Plumbing issue on Sunday morning. Worked 3 hours with it and could not fix. By noon checked out. Felt no plumber would show on a Sunday afternoon. The property did not mention steps when researching. If recall accurately after paid message received that mentioned steps on the outside for access. When arrived there were 2 large sets of steps to climb. It was not conducive to elderly people or those with medical conditions. No issues outside of the plumbing and the 2 sets of long steps to climb.

A bad time
I personally had a number of issues which I feel other people might want to be warned about before staying here which I will innumerate below: 1. There are cockroaches in the kitchen 2. The screen door is broken and doesn’t close or latch properly and one of the windows doesn’t open so there isn’t really a way to properly ventilate the property to cool it in the mountain air at night which is the primary way of cooling. Also two of the ceiling fans are very unbalanced and they squeak constantly if they are left on so the nights were hot with just one very small square window open to vent the house. 3. Outside is a carpet of dog poop behind the property like it hasn’t been picked up in months. There’s trash on the ground, old rugs, a literal pickup bed full of trash bags our whole stay, broken appliances etc. Gross stuff. Literally nowhere to step to relieve my pup without stepping in poop. Also he was surrounded and nipped by the three German shepherds and lab who live on the property who bark constantly at you every time you descent the stairs or walk past the property. The dogs are very much not friendly to other dogs and not leashed or in voice control at all so other pet owners beware! 4. The bed sucks. As others have mentioned. 5. I’d think they could spring for more than 1 ply toilet paper, kleenex, and provide coffee filters (which we left) but no luck there either. I guess the good stuff: the communication with the host and the check in process were great.

Outstanding mountain location
This is a very comfortable studio with neighborhood access to some fantastic backcountry skiing and hiking. As part of my stay I did a 5 mile ski tour out the back door, up to over 11,800 ft with a return down St. Mary's Glacier. Next time I am looking for a place to stay with the family in this area, I will be looking for availability of this studio.

Weekend Getaway
We had the coziest time for our small Thanksgiving :) the property faces the tree line and we woke up to a fresh coat of snow. It was a very magical and memorable weekend for us. We toured the Argo gold mill which was a short 20 min drive from the place.

Great Location
The best part is definitely the location, and it's worthwhile to book just to be in such a beautiful, remote location, so close to St. Mary's Glacier. We thoroughly enjoyed the drive to and from the unit as well. As other reviewers mentioned, this third floor unit gets warm, even on cool nights. There are fans throughout but it is challenging to keep it cool. The kitchen was nicely stocked. The unit was very clean. It's a bit more dated looking vs. the photos on the listing.

Wonderful
Great location! The area is secluded and in/surrounded by the most beautiful mountains. The smell of the pine trees is divine and the stream nearby is the only sound that can be heard. The property is very nice and carries the essentials. Since it is located on the 3rd floor, it does get warm inside (even though temps get in the 50s) but with the fans help cool it down. Highly recommend and we will be back!

No power
The house was very nice and clean and the description was accurate. Unfortunately, we arrive to the Home at 8:30 in the evening and there was no power. Mind you it was 27° in the mountains and snowed approximately 8 inches, so very cold weather for May 31. I had a hard time getting a hold of the property owner but finally was able to and he informed me that there was to be a scheduled power outage for quite a few hours over the night, he did not make us aware of this stating he only found out a few hours before. We could’ve received a call or an email but no communication had happened. When we called the power went out

Fun Mountain Spot
Had a great time staying in this unit over the weekend. For those looking for more of a remote experience and to explore the Saint Mary's area this is a good choice. The unit is located 20mins from Idaho Springs and significantly higher in elevation. Be prepared for the weather to be totally different in the Saint Mary's location compared to Idaho Springs. In our case it was in the 40's and snowy at this property and near 20 degree warmer and sunny in Idaho Springs.

Beautiful remote location
Overall great experience at the unit. Coffee was provided and appreciated in addition to condiments. The location is remote outside of Idaho Springs. I will mention that the previous comments about the bed are accurate. It is noisy and uncomfortable. A $100 mattress foam mattress topper would make a world of difference.

Weekend Getaway
This property is the perfect quick getaway for a weekend near Idaho Springs. We traveled to Keystone and Breckinridge with no issues. The living arrangements were great! Very clean and had the house stocked with all the essentials. I’m from NJ, only recommendation would be a humidifier for us not used to the dry air, would make sleeping easier! Would stay again.

Really enjoyed the property. The condo was very comfortable and clean. Enjoyed sitting around so much it was hard to get motivated to get out and about. Great Stay In The Mountains
We have been coming to Colorado multiple times a year from Cincinnati and wanted to stay farther from the cities this trip. This was a fantastic location in St. Mary's! Only about an 18 minute drive down the mountain to get to Idaho Springs where you can find great restaurants, bars and shopping. We are big hikers and never had to drive to any trails while staying at this property. There are multiple trailheads within a very short walk right outside your door including St Mary's Glacier which was a beautiful hike. The condo is very clean, well kept and fully stocked. It is very quiet which is what we were hoping for except for one night where some other guests were being loud pretty late into the night. We could here every word they were saying in our bedroom which was not the fault of the rental company. Overall our stay was incredible and we didn't want to leave. We will absolutely be staying again if we decide to come back to the area. Thanks for a memorable trip!

Mountain retreat
This property was very easy to find, perfectly close to some great hikes and stocked with everything needed for a quick mountain getaway! We spent 4 nights here. I was glad to be on the top floor as we could hear some of the conversations and dogs barking in the unit below, and would have liked the carpet cleaned beforehand as we found some black dog hairs throughout that caused our allergies to flare. The refrigerator was also a little loud at night when trying to sleep so recommend ear plugs! All in all we spent most of our time exploring and this was a nice landing spot to launch from.
