Great location middle of fields but accesible by bus to hawarth and hebden bridge, would recommend public transport to hebden bridge as murder to park there. Pub supplies a good breakfast and we had a good evening meal on the first night. Pool and sauna is nice touch but no immediate facilites so need to be prepared from you room which really isn't an issue. Rooma are clean and comfortable a bit dated but not an issue just not to expect ultra modern. Short walk around local resevoir and takes you by another local pub the Lamb where we also ate great lamb curry and chicken pie albiet very large portions. Would highly recommend a stay here
Back again to stay.We love this place. The hotel has a pool and steam room which is never crowded as theres only a handful of letting rooms. The rooms are decorated nicely and the hotel staff are great.Next door is the Dog and Gun where you go for your breakfast.Hosted by Michael who is one of the best hosts ive met in the hospitality trade. The food is lovely and its never a let down.Serving lunches and mains and Sunday dinner.I love this place and cant wait to return....AGAIN.
The hotel is in a nice location and the rooms are comfortable (although noise does carry through the walls easily).
I received an email that I wouldnt be able to use the pool unsupervised as I was alone with my young daughter which was a disappointment.
There was never any staff present except for in the pub next door which was a little difficult to navigate to in the rain down a set of very slippery stairs with no railing and a babe in arms.
I had pre-paid for breakfast which was 8-9am. I was asked to hand in a form with my preferences for breakfast but as i was back from my dinner in another town quite late, I didnt want to chance carrying my daughter down the wet steps in the dark. There was no area at reception to drop it off and no staff anywhere in the hotel ever to be seen.
I arrived the next morning early for breakfast in the hopes i could order and wait (there were not many guests) and i was made to feel as though this was a lot of trouble despite apologising and assuring them i could wait (and again, i had pre-paid with my stay so a quick check would have told them I would be having breakfast). We didnt receive juice or condiments and i was hesitant to ask after the cold welcome and lack of understanding.
This and the lack of help in regard to opening doors near the car park to bring in luggage (which i found out existed when the kind cleaner let me out the back way on check out) really took a lot of the joy out of the stay. Not suitable for little ones.

Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service, room comfort
Okay for a 2 night stay.
Good stay for 2 nights. Room average needs updating, especially the bathroom! Very good tea/coffee making facilities.
The Dog & Gun next door was a bonus, meals were excellent.
Absolutely in the middle of nowhere, so peaceful. Attached to a pub that, despite its location was very busy, mainly because it gave good service and lovely food. However, no noise from the pub overflowed to the accommodation. The pool area could do with a bit of an upgrade but basically ok. Only stayed for one night but would definitely return. Exactly what I needed for some overdue R&R. Having grown up in the country I had no issue with the chickens, including a vocal cockerel, wandering around although others might find the early wake up annoying. Almost a little taste of my childhood. Able to park right outside my window, felt totally safe as a female solo traveler even though I was on the ground floor which is usually a no no for me.
This is a hidden gem of a place.Surrounded by beautiful scenery. Its decorated beautifully and the swimming pool and steam room are a haven for relaxation. The Dog and Gun adjoins the hotel and offers a wide variety of meals so there is something for everyone. The landlord Michael is an exceptional host and served our Full English breakfast which was cooked to perfection. All in all i'd recommend this place. We will be back.
I used this property to visit family in the area we went self catering it was very quiet in feb had the sauna and pool to ourselves all the cooking utensils were more than adequate small kichen dining room and spiral staircase to loft bedroom with low beams very warm and cozy would definitely use again out of season
Disappointing. I chose this hotel because it had a pool & sauna. On arrival we were told we could not use the pool or sauna because of a fault with a pump. I asked for a partial refund to compensate for this but it was declined.
We've now stayed here on numerous occasions and always a pleasure to come back. Very peaceful & relaxing, with the benefit of the pool - especially when when it's blowing a gale outside!
Service & food excellent, next door at the Dog & Gun.
I'm sure we'll be beack again.
What a gorgeous little hotel , right next door to the dog and gun , the food was gorgeous too and a very friendly atmosphere
Will be going back

Disappointing
Booked one night in a double superior room with breakfast. The room was very average with a large stain on the floor and very cold, the heating was very hit and miss and none at all in the morning and this is December! No tv signal so couldn’t even watch that. It was very noisy as below our window was a skittle alley. But the thing that has really made me right this review is we had breakfast booked for 9am and all the doors were locked, we waited till after 9 and even phoned them, with no answer so we left. I called later to be told that they don’t open until the time of the booking but we were definitely there past 9. I did report the lack of heating to be told she would pass it on. She even asked why I was calling!! I would not recommend this as a place to stay and definitely don’t take any notice of the sample menu as only basic pub grub served now.
Small and quiet although a lot of traffic noise as our room was right on the roadside and no double glazing.
Clean and orderly. No noise from other visitors. Staff helpful. Lovely small pool and sauna. The room was a bit on the small side, room for only one chair and we were two visitors but otherwise very comfortable. Beautiful situation and excellent walks from the hotel.
My stay was absolutely lovely. The friendly staff so welcomed considering I came up on my own. The accommodation, clean and spotless everywhere . The view amazing right in the heart of the dales...
Bed was lovely and comfy.
The pool and the sauna made it for me.
The pub next door Dog and Gun food to die for. Not really overly expensive either for the quality of the food and service and when I came in mid week it was busy so you know it's good..... £10 for breakfast direct absolutely bargain and the bacon is very good....
Thank you so much for a beautiful stay... Would highly recommend.
