Small hotel, but room was clean and comfortable. Staff helped us call a taxi a few times and always greeted us when we walked in. Didn’t have to worry about room keys, which was nice. Across the street from a temple, 10 minute walk from a station, lots of places to shop and eat on the way to the station if you take the main road. Great water pressure in the shower. No view from our room in particular, but we enjoyed our stay here!
There was probably a little bit of communication issue. During arrival, I mentioned that we would like to have clean towels supplied. Later we saw the notes in the room mentioning, eco-clean of the room, i.e., between no clean and full clean. However, we only see the hanging tag with two sides, "cleaning" and "do not disturb". There is no such thing as "towels and essentials only". There is a phone number left downstairs. However, when our phone cannot make regular calls in Japan.
The location is great. You actually stay in a peaceful neighbourhood while you can easily access the center of Kyoto, including the beautiful Kamo River.
The room is spacious and tidy. We enjoyed our stay because the designer put both Japanese style and morden style in the same room.
What impressed us the most was the bath room. It is not like typical japanese unit bath, it is decorated by the tiles in black and grey tone which is very cool and stylish. I love the design. The water pressure is just nice even we stayed in the 5th floor. Anyway, I would love to stay at the same hotel again.
BTW, there is a Japanese restaurant beside the hotel entrance, the chef cooks fabulous troditional Japanese meal. Remember to make a reservation if you want to try.
