All in all: Good experience. This was quite precisely what I expected and hoped for: Good bed to sleep, clean linen, warm (and super duper comfortable!) duvet, peace and silence (during the week there was no extra noise, hustle & bustle or whatsoever), friendly and professional service (the staff had answers to everything I needed to know and they were very hospitable indeed), all basic facilities available (even a cute little cafe with a budget-friendly breakfast in conjunction with the hostel!) etc. The only minus, at first, was the coldness of the building (I traveled in winter time), but that was solved with the heater and the super thick and warm duvet at nights :) The breakfast / chill-out room was so comfortable, neat and tidy that I happened to spend there more time than was even necessary. It was well-designed for working (on laptop) in the mornings as well. The shared bathroom facilities were also surprisingly well-maintained. I saw cleaners all the time - and vice versa: I saw hardly any rubbish or dirt at all. I am very happy of having chosen this place for my 1-week stay in Kioto. It was also easy to rent a bike and cycle to the city - which was not even too far away without a bike. I did walk a lot and I personally love walking - and that is something you should also enjoy of, if you choose this hostel - or Kioto in general ;)
