This beautiful 350m2 4 bedroom villa/farmhouse set in its own 5,000m2 botanical garden with private heated(optional) swimming pool in the heart of the Orotava valley (Tenerife north), is one of the most spectacular finca properties on the island. The views across its lawns and Palm grove to Mount Teide and the sea are superb. The villa is completely secluded. Enjoy the luxury of not having neighbours.There is fibre optic wifi internet connection and Satellite TV. The villa has everything necessary for a wonderful holiday, including a very popular fully equipped outside kitchen with its own terrace where you can bbq overlooking the pool. The villa is located in a unique rural setting surrounded by plantations and yet only 5 mins away from Puerto de la Cruz and La Orotava. Ideally situated as well for sightseeing. There are many historically interesting villages to visit nearby such as Garachico, Icod and La Laguna.

Fabulous stay
The photos do not do this beautifull finca justice its much larger and more impressive. The garden and pool were our highlight the kids loved it. Fabulous views of Teide and the Orotava valley. Wonderful Place!
Very large property, well equipped and extremely private (if not a little difficult to find :)) The highlight for us was the BBQ area and pool, set against a stunning view of the volcano...wow. The place was pretty much as others have described and true to the description and photos on line. We had a fantastic week, highly recommended. Location wise its pretty remote and we struggled for local restaurants etc. PS - La Orotava is overpriced so I would look elsewhere for a night out. So I would say that for a relaxing break with a few trips out (hire car essential) this is a great spot. For those looking for more lively evenings, maybe look South. Santa Cruz is a good spot for local seafood and Tapas etc...Puertro de La Cruz is OK, standard seaside town, the beaches looked nice but were sadly closed when we visited. Theres a decent local eatery listed in the book at the house called the Monastry. Yes, all good, and thanks to Desmond for excellent comms. I will return here for sure!

Stunning home and gardens
The villa and gardens are absolutely stunning and we had a fabulous stay here. However, some things to note if you're thinking of booking - (1) a car is essential; (2) the villa has no fans or air conditioning and it does get hot at night; (3) the gardeners (who are discreet) attended on Mon, Weds and Fri morning; and (4) we were disturbed early morning and late at night by, variously, construction noise, traffic, dogs barking, people shouting nearby, etc. Having said all that, words cannot explain how utterly lovely the gardens are, during the day it was so calm and so peaceful. It's probably the most beautiful place we've ever stayed.

Perfect family getaway
A beautiful property perfect for our family getaway. Very spacious and equipped with everything needed for a relaxing holiday. A very peaceful location only a few minutes drive from supermarkets and local towns. A great base to explore the north of the island. We'd love to visit again. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

Utterly peaceful and relaxing
Desmond's place is, quite simply, magnificent and truly relaxing. Everything you could possibly want is there or at least it was for us (except a tray to carry food outside - I expect there was one which we just couldn't find). There's plenty of space to find your own place to read alone if you want to or to move around so as to avoid (or even to find) the sun. We had a fabulous 6 days. Thank you Desmond.

Lovely Relaxing Stay
We had a lovely break at the villa. It is very spacious and extremely clean. And it has lots of character. The owner is very helpful and took care of any queries that we had promptly. The BBQ area is lovely and well equipped. The pool is warm and well maintained. The gardens are secluded and beautifully maintained - with lots of room for little ones to run around. The place is thoroughly recommended

Our second trip to Desmond's villa.
This was our second trip to Desmond's wonderful villa in the North of Tenerife. Our first was in January and then we were very lucky with the weather and were able to use the fantastic pool every day. In June, our second trip was equally brilliant. Our four year old son was just as smitten this time (as were we) with the perfect swimming pool and lovely, safe, enclosed gardens. One of many benefits of the villa is that you can shut yourself away behind the gates and enjoy the oasis of calm beyond. The villa itself, as many other guests describe, is brilliantly appointed with lovely artwork and comfortable furnishings as well as a super kitchen (and one above the pool with the great BBQ / grill) We couldn't have been happier with our two separate weeks at Desmond's place. Our first visit, we were quickly guided around the property and on the second, handed the keys and left to our holiday, just perfect. Thanks again Desmond for your hospitality!

Fabulous home

Probably the best place we have ever stayed
The villa was very spacious and clean with the most amazing garden and pool. We had lots of meals and barbecues cooked outside enjoying the views and the sunset. The house itself is well equipped and has good Wi-Fi. The location is ideal for enjoying the beaches on the North Coast with great surfing. Within a few minutes you are in the quaint village of La Orotava, and a few minutes further you have big supermarkets and Puerto de la Cruz. The villa and grounds are in a lovely rural setting surrounded by fields and banana trees. The access road is perfectly adequate for simple hire cars but is more of an off-road track. One word of advice is to follow the owners written directions rather than trusting the sat NAV. Or at least the thing that matters is you come off at junction 34. We would love to come back again!

Great villa in the best part of Tenerife
This is a beautiful Canarian house, full of character, and well maintained. There’s plenty of space for a family holiday. It’s set in a large garden, with a lovely pool. And it’s a few minutes drive from Orotava, which is probably the nicest town in Tenerife. We had a great time staying here.

Stylish Spanish dream country house
Lovely week stay in this incredibly charming, well equipped and spacious villa. Highly appreciated the outdoor kitchen and bbq area close by the pool. Location is perfect if you wish to be a bit secluded but still within 15 min drive to Puerto or even closer to La Orotava, both super nice towns. We highly recommend this place and would love to come back! Thanks Desmond for a wonderful stay!

Such a lovely, peaceful villa. We enjoyed everything about it and the wonderful botanical garden with fresh avocado from the trees left for us by the gardener. Desmond was extremely helpful and we found the whole experience very relaxing.

Better than home!
Desmond, I fell in love with your garden. The most beautiful landscaped and well tended garden. Thank you for allowing us to share what was your much loved family home. The property and gardens offer complete privacy and relaxation. You could not ask for more. If you like walking its the perfect location for the National Park and eating breakfast whilst watching Mount Teide appear through the clouds. It was a real pleasure to meet you Desmond. Thank you.

The road leading the last 300 meters to the property is rough and a bit off putting but completely worth the while once you enter the property. A large charming home and grounds set away from the sounds of traffic. Beautifully landscaped property with all the comforts of home. Great communication with Desmond.

Location, location, location ... and so much more!
As seasoned travellers, you become more aware of what you like and don’t like when staying away. And there was absolutely nothing we disliked about the villa and plenty that we did like. It was perfect for us; a veritable ‘home from home’! The location was fantastic, right in the middle of the beautiful and green Oratava valley with wonderful views of the sea in one direction and of Mount Teide from the other. Puerto de la Cruz is only a 10 minute drive away and offers some fantastic restaurants (do try Talle Seve Dias and Mil Sabores there and the more local eateries such as Titos and Mirador in the monastery). There is easy access to the motorways so you can easily travel to other areas: there is so much to see and do here. The villa itself was far more spacious than the photos portray and had every convenience. It was completely private, not overlooked at all. It was clean and well cared for as you would expect from a quality rental, but it was more than that: it still felt like someone’s home and was cared for as such. The sofas, the pictures, the antiques, the well equipped kitchen, the powerful showers, the airiness of the rooms. The garden was something else and we took away some ideas we’d like to try at home. And Desmond was wonderful; unobtrusive but immediately there with a helpful response to any questions. We loved staying in the north of Tenerife: it is so green and lush and sub-tropical. The scenery is magnificent and drives to Mascar or up Mount Teide can be quite emotional. So would we return to this part of the world? Yes. And would we come back to Villa Jardin Botanica? In a heartbeat! Thank you Desmond for sharing your former family home with us: we loved it Regards Karen & Paul

The villa is wonderful, sparkling clean, good position, but you need a car. There is two restaurants walking distance, the mall Al camp, supermarket Dino and Billa are about 3km. The water in swimming pool was 27deg. The garden is amazing. There is everything you need and you can think about. Everything is tasty, beautiful and we liked it

Brilliant
A wonderful villa and great service from Desmond. The villa is well equipped, spacious and comfortable. The Gardens are the best I have ever seen in a holiday let and the aviary is a wonderful bonus. Location is good, being walking distance from good basic restaurant, or 5mins from town and more exotic offerings. Also 5mins from Lidl or (preferred) HiperDino supermarkets, as well as the Al Campo shopping centre. We had great weather (23degrees in early Feb) although not sure if Desmond can take full credit for that. Can not fault our week. Many thanks

Unique house full of character with stunning gardens
My family and I enjoyed a wonderful holiday in this remarkable property. Desmond met us on our arrival in La Oratava and guided us to the villa, and gave us a comprehensive welcome tour of the house. Immediately we realised that the villa was unlike any other we have stayed in. It is immaculately presented in superb condition, with big rooms, a sizeable and well stocked kitchen and a large lounge. But this is complemented by a fine collection of paintings and antique furniture that gives the house so much character and charm. And then there's the gardens, which are just wonderful. The gardens surround the house on all sides and are not just large in scale and beautifully sculpted, but are filled with a stunning collection of plants, trees an flowers from around the world - this truly was our own private botanical garden. The heated swimming pool and views of the volcano in the distance were the icing on the cake for us. All in all we were delighted with our stay and would wholeheartedly recommend the villa. A comfortable and private house in a beautiful garden
We came for some sun and peace by the pool, and had a wonderful stay. The house is 100 years old and charming, with good modern bathrooms. The grounds are lovely, with tropical plants and resident canaries. We particularly enjoyed the barbeque area above the pool for breakfast in the sun, and evening meals. The owner was off island on our arrival, but made sure we were met and guided to the house, which otherwise might have been difficult to find in the dark. He also provides a good guide to the island, including restaurants and supermarkets a short drive away. In the third week of October, daytime temperatures were between 21 and 25, tending to cloud over in the afternoons. We had one wet day, perfect to go to the Siam Waterpark, much enjoyed by our 3 teenagers.
