This private holiday home is situated at Le Morne Village in the southern part of Mauritius island, with direct access to the beach just across from the cottage. The house consists of two separate apartments on two floors. The apartment is designed to accommodate four persons.
You find turquoise water and white sand beaches on the lagoon just across the quiet beach road from the house, or 10 minutes away by foot at “la Prairie” Beach. In addition, a huge range of leisure activities is available at Le Morne.
You have direct access to the world famous wind - and kite surfing spot at Le Morne lagoon. Depending on the wind direction, you can start a days surfing right in front of your holiday cottage.
Surfing: The best travel time for surfing on the island is from May to October, this is winter on Mauritius (22-25 degrees) and you have reliable winds. Midsummer is from December to February, great beach weather with approximately 30 degrees, but changing wind conditions!
You find anything that makes the heart of a surfer beat faster: flat water, and a shallow area, just in front of the house and not crowded. After a downwind trip of 10 minutes you can find waves for beginners (little reef), waves for advanced surfers (manawa) and expert waves (one eye). Depending on the wind direction surfing and kite surfing is possible right from your doorstep.
You have 3 possibilities to access the Le Morne lagoon-
- in front of the house
- 1000m windward from “La Prairie” beach
- or from the most popular surf spot on the island, on the opposite side of the lagoon next to the Indian Resort and Mornea Hotel
Infrastructur: The Bus stop is just 20m away from the cottage, the bus network is very good and cheap on the Island. You find bus connections to the cities, interurban connections or along the coast. We recommend having a rental car but it is not absolutely necessary.
The water in the house is heated only by a solar system only. In the evening you should not shower too long, at some point the buffer is empty and is not reheated without sun. During the day and when the sun is shining you can shower as long as you want.
Mauritius is a tropical island and the heat means that windows and doors are usually open. Therefore, even with intensive cleaning, it is not possible to get rid of all insects. Do not leave food open, close the package after use or put the food in the refrigerator. There they are safe from ants and other insects.

When traveling to Africa, it's important to understand that life here is different from the Western industrialized world. The people here live with far less money, and as a result, their living conditions are simpler. However, despite these differences, the people live in peace and contentment. Their way of life is based on community, gratitude, and a deep appreciation for the essentials.
In this environment, you’ll discover the true meaning of happiness and togetherness. While daily life may seem unfamiliar to European eyes, it’s filled with a positive, life-affirming energy that you’ll feel from the moment you arrive.
If you’re open to experiencing authentic life – the small things that are often overlooked – you will be inspired by the warmth of the people and their ability to lead fulfilling lives despite having fewer material possessions.
People here live simply, but they have what often gets lost elsewhere: time for each other, warmth, and openness. Guests who are curious and respectful are welcomed with open arms – maybe with a drink by the sea or the rhythm of drums and dancing under the stars.
If you're searching for authenticity and want to experience life in its most honest and unfiltered form, this is the right place for you.
This house is not a retreat for those seeking luxury or silence – it's a home for travelers with open hearts. For people who value diversity, let go of expectations, and want to truly feel the spirit of local life – not just observe it.
