The positives: The owner was communicative and quick to respond. The kitchen sink and appliances were modern. The bedrooms had ceiling fans. The neighborhood was quiet and appeared safe.
The negatives: The property was one of three small homes on one lot, with no grass and weird cotton pieces everywhere. It was not inviting to drive up to, and while it was clean inside, it was decorated with very cheap furniture, with all black decor for some reason, and did not feel like a home (or even a hotel). Although it was advertised that there were portable AC units, they were not yet set up, even though it was about 80 degrees in the house. One of the beds collapsed while my son slept (again, very cheap furniture). The owner apologized and offered to come fix the bed (which did not make sense since it was morning and we were packing up to leave) and ultimately offered a small partial refund, which was appreciated. I think the owner is a good guy, trying to do right by the guests, but probably needs help with making the home more inviting and comfortable. Grass, nicer furniture and towels, more color, and AC units would be a good start.
