I really wanted to rate this property highly as the setting in this old refurbished building right in the heart of the historico centre is unique and stunning. The staff are friendly and obliging. The restaurant upstairs is first class but our comfort was seriously compromised due to bed bugs and noise. The hotel really should make guests aware that the building has no sound proofing whatsoever, so the wedding party on Saturday night was constant banging on the ceiling of our room in the presidential suite, as the dance floor was directly above. The manager offered us a complimentary dinner so they clearly acknowledge it’s distressing for guests and severely impacts comfort and sleep. However far more serious were the bed bugs that started biting night 1. You think you’re imagining things but by our final night 3 it was clear there was an issue with both of us scratching in bed! We reported the issue to management and the response perhaps unsurprisingly was “we contacted the professional fumigation and pest control company we work with for an independent evaluation. Both inspections confirmed there were no signs of bed bugs or other pests in the suite.” The fact they have a pest company on speed dial implies there is an issue which they are aware of. Regretfully I have to say avoid at all costs - if you value your sleep and health and safety :-((

Lovely historic building well rennovated and preserved. Our room was spacious and comfortable and the included breakfast was very good. Service was friendly and attentive. I also thought it was good value for the money. The only drawback was that the immediate surroundings are a bit gritty. We felt safe as there was a noticeable police present but it was hard not to notice things seem rather downtrodden.

The location is convenient. One night the only restaurant was closed because of a private event. One morning there was no water in the room. Sometimes noisy but otherwise great clean hotel friendly staff and convenient location. Very interesting truly historic boutique hotel. Reasonable price. Well maintained.

We had a 'junior suite' for 4 nights in Nov at Casa de la Luz Hotel. It is very conveniently located to the Plaza Constitution, with a wealth of shopping, sight seeing and dining options easily accessible. The beds were very comfortable and the shower pressure great. A hearty breakfast was included in the price which was great. A welcome cocktail at the terrace bar was a nice touch. The staff was friendly, but not very knowledgeable about the history of this old building or the surrounding areas - nothing a google search couldn't rectify! We would stay here again on future CD MX visits.

Great stay in historic centre

We had a short but wonderful stay at Casa de la Luz, it’s a gorgeous building that’s well located in the historic centre. Everyone was friendly and helpful. The room was lovely, well appointed (great shower!), and the bed was comfortable. The restaurant is also really good, highly recommended checking them out. Loved our stay, wish it was longer!
