Before we arrived at the property I was called by the owner, he stated that the garbage disposal was broken and one of the rooms that had a bed in it was locked accidentally, he couldn't find the key. He stated that the house cleaners were coming, and a handy man would be coming to fix the disposal and “break into” the locked bedroom so that we would have a place for all 8 of us to sleep. Three adults and 5 children, he was made aware of that.
When we arrived, the handy man had not come, and the door still had not been unlocked. I called the owner he said he would call and make sure that the handy man would be at the house soon. We did not stay at the house, nor did we inspect it. We left to take the kids to the beach. Five hours later when we returned the handy man had not come and the door to the bedroom still was locked.
When I called the property owner again, he stated that the handy man would not be coming and that we were just going to have to make do with what we had. Upon inspection of the made beds, we found bugs under the sheets and on pillows, mold on the comforters and dirty showers. The health and safety of our children were priority we did not stay. We were forced to drive late at night to find a hotel to sleep all 8 of us. When I informed the owner we would not be staying at the house, he proceeded to send me messages well into the night via the Vrbo app. Vrbo did not and will not issue a refund and neither will the property owner.
