Check in process took over an hour and they had trouble pulling up rooms despite having reservation and prepayment. Renovated rooms are nice but the old standard rooms are very aged. Walls are super thin. Hotel tried to charge for breakfast even though it was included in our room.

We were fortunate to be on a floor that had been renovated, and our room was nice. We heard from others on other floors that were not so nice. Staff was very accommodating considering the large crowds. One negative was no bathrooms available on ground floor due to renovation, so we had to go to the room every time

The woman that checked us in was incredibly rude and nasty. The room was awful; the tv didn't work, the bathroom was disgusting. All in all, we will not be going back. Not to mention, some construction and maintenance workers were on strike out front complaining of how poorly they were treated and paid, and I wouldn't doubt that it was the truth.

A Mixed Stay
I've stayed at The Manhattan several times now over the past 5 years. I mostly stay because of its prime location that's often nearby everything I need. But that doesn't mean that all is perfect with the property either. I've usually had friendly service with those who work the front desk and around the lobby and for that I'm happy. But upon getting up to our room, there were clear revisions going on to the room that weren't quite complete, most evident by a picture that one could tell was once hanging on the wall but was no longer there. The lack of plugs and no mini fridge in the room are always a letdown, but we make due. There was a moment where there no hot water for everyone in the building and that became rather inconvenient, but was fixed within at least a couple of hours. I'm willing to overlook little cosmetic blushes around the building when at the end of the day, I'm not in NYC to be in the hotel all day. But I haven't noticed things getting much better for the overall condition of the property in my numerous stays here over the years. This hotel will always be special for helping to be a part of great memories in New York, but time will tell if I'll continue to stay here in the future.

Trying to enter my room
The temp in the room didn’t get below 75 degrees. At one point it was 82 degrees. I had housekeeping trying to enter my room daily at 9. Not joking. Every day Simon tries to use a key to enter my room at 9am. Thankfully I had the bolt thing to prevent people from entering in place. They didn’t knock or introduce themselves. Just tried to enter. I had the room reserved for another day, and housekeeping tried to enter the room. When I got out of bed to answer the door she asked me what time I was checking out. This was 9am and checkout wasn’t u til 12. However I still had the room for another day. Then on my checkout day another family who tried to enter my room at 9am. Again, checkout wasn’t until 12. Absolutely unacceptable to be asked what time I was checking out, and to have staff try to enter on a day basis. It was me and my 15 yr old daughter in NYC. You can imagine how scary that was for both of us. People trying to enter and not saying who they were. Scary.
