Remodeled beach bungalow that maintained the vintage charm while adding modern amenities. Three bedroom home is decorated with art from local North Carolina artisans. Enjoy the oversized screen porch which opens to a patio which includes a sitting area and picnic table as well as a gas grill to enjoy local caught seafood. Though the cottage contains one full bathroom you will likely enjoy the oversized outdoor shower under the towering majestic oak tree from which the cottage is named.
The Bungalow is centrally located and is a 1/2 mile to the beach with direct beach access on 52nd, 55th and 58th Streets as well as a 1/4 mile to the Intracoastal Waterway. In addition, shopping, grocery stores and restaurants are within walking or biking distance. The island is very bike friendly and you can bike most anywhere you need to go, biking is the best way to see the island. Golf Carts are very popular and rentals are easy to obtain for your stay. We can provide rental information for you if needed. For a little longer trip take the NC Ferry from Southport to Fort Fisher and take in the NC Aquarium at Fort Fisher and visit a Civil War era earthen fort. Oak Island offers several parks along the Intracoastal Waterway to fish, kayak or boat watch.
Oak Island / Southport is a great area to relax and enjoy. From the over 16 miles of beach, the intracoastal waterway to the marsh areas it has it all. Kayaking, paddle boarding, great bike, - hiking trails, golfing, fishing, shopping and restaurants. Public boat launch is three blocks away. The still operational Oak Island Light House will guide you at night. Visit the Point for a one of a kind sunset.
