With stunning sunset views and breathtaking mountain vistas, this retreat is the perfect place to relax and unwind. Conveniently located near Bass Lake, downtown Oakhurst, and Yosemite's South Gate, it offers a peaceful retreat and a convenient base for exploring Yosemite. Enjoy soaking in the hot tub, grilling up a delicious meal on the deck, or spending the evening in the game room by the fire pit. The Ponderosa Chalet is the perfect place for a fun and relaxing getaway.

Living room: The Ponderosa Chalet's living room is a cozy open space, perfect for relaxing after a long day exploring the mountains. Kick back on the comfortable furniture and watch TV or simply enjoy the company of your friends and family.

Bedrooms: The Ponderosa Chalet has 3 bedrooms, each with comfortable beds and plenty of storage space for your belongings.

Bathrooms: The Ponderosa Chalet features 2 bathrooms, each stocked with towels and basic amenities.

As our guest, you will have full access to the entire property, including the living areas, bedrooms, fully equipped kitchen, and outdoor spaces. Feel free to make yourself at home and enjoy all that our Ponderosa Chalet by The Great Yosemite Retreat has to offer.

While we will be accessible 24/7 for our guests, communicating directly through the VRBO app is best and will get the fastest response.

The Ponderosa Chalet is located in Oakhurst, California, a small town situated in the Sierra Nevada mountains. The chalet is situated on a quiet residential street, surrounded by lush green forests and rolling hills. The neighborhood is peaceful and quiet, with friendly neighbors and plenty of privacy. There are several small businesses and restaurants within a short drive of the chalet, including a grocery store, pharmacy, and post office.

The town of Oakhurst is located about 20 minutes' drive from the entrance of Yosemite National Park, one of the region's top attractions. Yosemite National Park is a World Heritage site and home to breathtaking natural wonders such as waterfalls, granite cliffs, and giant sequoia trees. The park offers a variety of activities for visitors, including hiking, rock climbing, horseback riding, and photography.

Spacious, well-equipped Magical Getaway House
Our family had a wonderful stay at the Ponderosa Chalet. The hosts were very communicative and available to answer any questions. We enjoyed relaxing on the patio and grilling in the evenings. The sunsets and stargazing from the cozy hot tub were memorable highlights of the trip! We’d definitely return, and highly recommend for families seeking a spacious house for get togethers.

Best Sunset in a Quite Hillside Neighborhood
This property is tastefully decorated and was clean upon arrival. The communication ahead of our visit was great too. The best part is the patio area that faces West and has an unbeatable sunset view, a hot tub, fire pit and outdoor dining table. The only bummer - not the fault of the house - is the bugs at dusk. Several of us were bitten multiple times in one night. Bring bug spray! The garage-turned-game room was a bonus as well. There are some board games on hand but we didn’t see just a regular deck of cards that we wished we had packed. I highly recommend this house if you are coming to the area. We spent one day renting a boat on Bass Lake and another day renting a UTV from Yosemite Adventures and the location was convenient to both. We decided not to go to Yosemite NP because we kept reading about the crowds this summer, so I cannot comment on the accessibility from this location.

Chilling Outside of Yosemite
Quiet location where you can sit in the hot tub under the Milky Way after hiking and climbing in Yosemite. If you still have energy, you can goof around in the play room. Nice to sit outside and eat and watch the bats and the sunset from the deck is pretty epic.

Great place to stay for families
Beautiful views, comfortable beds and an overall great place to stay! Roads are a little tricky getting to the property so it would be good planning to arrive during the day and avoid having to drive at night. Restaurants in town close at 8, so plan accordingly if you will be eating out. Hosts were responsive and property is well kept. Overall, nice accomodations.

Enjoyable Getaway
The cabin is perfect for a weekend retreat. It’s located in the wilderness but just a 10 minute drive to Starbucks. (I drove by several deer on my trip to grab a morning Mocha!). This was my first trip to the area so the welcome packet of information was very helpful.

Large space, beautiful sunsets. It’s a 30 minute drive to the south entrance of Yosemite but over an hour to the main entrance (where we spend most of our time). Close to a grocery store, restaurants, shops and a brewery. Place was great, spacious. Bathroom showers could use updating. They also had an ant problem so we could not keep any of our food out on the counter and the ants even made it up into the cabinet’s even when all our food was enclosed. I did have a question for the property manager when we were getting ready to check out but did not get a response. Instead I just received the very generic automatic messages. But overall nice place to stay.

Launching pad for Yosemite
Great place to retire to after hiking. Hiked the mist trail it was beautiful. We didn’t get to visit the giant sequoias at Mariposa Grove because of the fire. Had a great time anyway. Loved the property!

The place was fine. It could use a good, deep cleaning. Lots of cobwebs. . I rented that space due to deck and I spent time on arrival just sweeping and cleaning it. All the blinds are broke . Bathroom shower master could use a good cleaning or replacement. I think I was a bit underwhelmed upon arrival.

The sunset from the patio is awesome. It’s a very handsomely renovated property and the neighborhood was very quiet. I wasn’t prepared for the winding road to it but it was worth it once we arrived. There were a few details that could be improved but the host was very receptive to requests. We left thinking we would choose this property again if we return to this area.

Beautiful, huge clean home with a view!
Property manager was very communicative and made check in and finding the property easy! The house was large clean and beautiful and they had thought of every detail! The view is also stunning and decorations adorable. Only critique I have is that they requested we start the laundry and dish machines and strip the sheets and take out the trash etc. This always seems unfair and a bit stingy to me since we are paying an exorbitant cleaning fee already and we’re there on vacation to relax and enjoy the place until we left, not necessarily do the cleaning and chores ourselves. However this was a minor hiccup and overall we would definitely stay at this property again!

Perfect retreat for Yosemite Fun
The property was amazing and so was the host. Both the home and the view were great! We stayed here for its access to Yosemite National Park. The location was great! We will definitely be back if we ever return to Yosemite.
