Sweet lil shack. Enjoy a memorable visit when you stay in this unique place. This is a space to get away from it all and enjoy nature. Rural area, close to State and National Parks and only minutes from Pacific Ocean with many access points and handfuls of some of the best Lagoons in the country. We are just across the highway from where Redwood Creek and Prairie Creek meet. Good ocean and river fishing access just near by. Some of the most beautiful hiking. To name a few of my favorites within 10min driving distance: Fern Canyon, Prairie Creek State Park, Redwood Creek, and all the ocean/lagoon accesses.
**PLEASE READ ALL SITE INFORMATION BEFORE BOOKING**
!! NO TV/ NO WIFI (here to get away from it all) - there is free WIFI in town at the local elementary school.

*THINGS TO NOTE*
1) Full shower and small bathtub
2) We have HWY 101 frontage and the noise bothers some people.
**The noisy road is most constant during high season from traffic and mostly big logging trucks. Most people say it’s worth it being so close to the parks and hiking trails. We have ear plugs provided (in top desk drawer) if needed.
3) We advise getting groceries before Orick/check in if your planning to cook as more food selection is at least 1/2 hour South and 1hour North. However also only tiny fridge available here.
4) Post Office in town next to general store
*KITCHENETTE*
1) Electric water kettle, coffee filters, single cup drip coffee, toaster oven, two burner electric hotplate, silverware, dish-ware for two, minimal pots and pan provided, salt and pepper, oil and vinegar.
2) Please clean up after cooking/fixing food and keep food scraps in the fridge in bags provided in the kitchen drawer.
*PARKING*
1) Park as close to the studio and white lattice fence as possible as there are other people who park on grass.
2) Park with two tires on the pavement (when its wet)
3) Guests must not block drive way at any time
*TRASH*
1) PLEASE take any of your food trash with you because of ants
2) We prefer not to use poison traps but if needed we have Terro ant traps upon request
3) Extra trash bags for each day of your visit are located in the kitchen drawer
4) Clean paper that can be burned goes into paper bag provided in the kitchen under the sink
5) You may leave any recycling that is a drink container except milk containers. PLEASE you MUST take all other recycling along with your trash and food trash with you when you leave.
6) We are in State and National Park territory .....most official stops have trash and recycling bins for you to dispose of properly. Those bins are there specifically for travelers and tourists.
*HEATING*
1) There is an electric fireplace heater. *IMPORTANT NOTE* If we have a power outage(which does happen in the winter sometimes) there is no option currently for heat.
*FANS & DEHUM*
1) Kitchen and bathroom fans need to run at all times if it's raining. Also ALWAYS when showering or cooking.
2) Dehumidifier(small white box in corner by back door) helps keep moisture down in our climate and it would be appreciated if that runs at all times unless it's too warm or too loud for you at night, feel free to turn it off.
*MAY ENCOUNTER POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS ANIMALS*
We have elk occasionally in the yard. Our property is butted up against a hillside; when the berries come out in the summertime we sometimes have brown bears in the backyard nibbling.
It ain't called Funky Little Shack for no reason. There's more things to consider when being conscientious upon living in a coastal & rural area. Thank You for taking the time to read carefully.
