There was dog hair all over the room which gave me a severe asthma attack and I broke out in hives. My eyes puffed up and they donā€™t have a proper reception for book in, they charge extra fees for everything. The tv did not work at all. Everything has to be done through their app. Even if the room is available for early check in or late check out they charge $40 an hour after taxes. Booked through Expedia and luckily I contacted Sonders reception and they said I had download the app to speak with them. It took me over an hour on the app chat to check in. And even though I already reservation confirmation emails through expedia. They said they had no record of it. And the screenshots with the booking confirmation and the number Expedia provided wasnā€™t good enough for them. They donā€™t have a phone in the room to call reception. You also donā€™t get a key card that has to be done through the app with Bluetooth. And you have to scan your phone against the door which also didnā€™t work. Luckily they gave me a code to do it with but itā€™s very inconvienent.

Nice size appartment. Did book a balcony and was very dissapointed that the balcony doors were locked without notice. Should have a few wine glasses and a few more bowls in the Kitchen. No dish rag on arrival. The bedding were very cheap and the duvet needs replacing. The duvet was full of lumps which were not a cozy feeling at bed time. Should have a carpet at the front door for shoesā€¦.. could supply minimal supplies such as salt and pepper. Only one small soap was suppliedā€¦.

This is our second stay at the Sonder Oā€™Connor. We originally chose it because it is close to family. On our first visit we stayed in one of the upper level full-size apartments, and this time in a studio apartment. Both were excellent. This is now our go-to hotel in Ottawa.

The underground parking is very tight. I have a full size truck and it take multiple 3 point turns to park. The parking machine is outsourced. Got back from the game and there was only "reserved staff" parking available. I had pre-paid for the weekend. I called the hotel and was told I was only guaranteed if I booked the parking with the hotel and the machine at the gate didn't.

Address the details

Overall I found it to be a nice hotel. However there are some details that ruined the experience for me. First, both TVs in the room were not working. I had to wait for a maintenance worker the next day. He said that the instructions were missing from the room; he got it working but even he couldn't fully explain how to navigate the TV system and channels. Second, the furniture selection is AWFUL. The chairs at the dining table are absolutely terrible--with that style of chair it's very difficult to sit for any length of time because it cuts off circulation of the legs. I'm a healthy male who had a lot of work on my computer to do, and the chair was extremely uncomfortable to use. Unfortunately there was no alternative in the room. Also the bed was terribly lopsided (making me feel like I was slipping off) and very lumpy. I could not find an "even" area where I could lay flat with no bumps. The bedding/sheets felt like I was wrapped in construction paper. You need to replace it with much higher quality. Finally, the window shades were effective but the only two options available were total darkness, or total transparency. There is no translucent curtain where the sunlight can be let in without being visually "exposed." These are small details; however it is this discomfort and inconvenience I have come away from my trip. I'm in Ottawa often and wish to use Sonder as my regular hotel. But if improvements are not made, I will be looking for another "regular".

The Queen Studio room was great, clean and a loaded with whatever utensils and tools you need to cook simple meals. The walls are pretty thick, didn't hear any chatter or noise from the neighbouring rooms, only the doors when opened/closed. It was a cold week during my stay and I had no issue raising the temperature from the thermostat, the heater was responsive and quick to warm up the room. I used the app for check in and check out(not for booking though). It's pretty intuitive to use, you get everything you need from here, the room info, code(mobile key is also an option), and customer assistance. A block away from Bank St which has a lot of restaurants and some grocery stores. There's also a bunch of OTranspo buses that pass by this street.
