We have stayed at the Esquinzo Monte del Mar 5 times before. Before and on arrival, nothing was mentioned about what was to come. After 2 days they sent us to eat all meals at their other hotel 3 kms away, The Royal Palm. This was not what we wanted at all. Then they announced that there was to be drilling works in the main pool areas. There were mechanical diggers, loud drills and a gang of workmen.
The worst thing was how this hotel group treated us. They refused to pay for the full loss or inconvenience we suffered. They offered no alternatives or apologies or any form of thinking of us being put in this position. We had to sort this out ourselves; We moved to another hotel at our own cost. They eventually refunded 7 nights, but not the full 10 nights. The rest of my family in 2 other apartments did not get any refund or help. They took thousands of pounds from us, ignored our loyalty over the years, and instead presented us with stress.
When we decided to make an official complaint and asked for the “Hojas de Reclamaciones” form, they did not produce one. The procedure then would be to contact the local police. I tried to complain after getting home. However, this is not possible, hence my writing on social media.
IMHO and from our experience, this hotel group will not worry if you have a destroyed holiday or assist you if things go wrong. They are IMHO inhuman and arrogant. Do you really want to risk that? I am still incensed about what they did to us, weeks later.
