I travel at work on regulare basis, staying at business hotels >50 night per year. Whenever travelling on my spare time, I choose smaller private hotels to enjoy a different atmosphere compared to business hotels. Hotel du Lys is different, that is for shure. Being a really old, it is also small in means of stair cases, bathroom size, and room size. Thre is no lift/elevator, so if you mobilitry is limited, I suggest the Holiday Inn round the corner. Same applies to bathroom, it was the smallest bathroom I have ever seen in a hotel. No minibar or fridge in the room, naturally. The hotel staff was very kind and helpful, although a bit limited regarding their skills in English. The best part of this hotel is the surrounding area. Close to Notre Dame and Latin Quarter, lots of restaurants and nightlife (french nightlife: people come late for dinner, no discos) around, yet the location is in between the restaurant streets, not directly on them. The continental breakfast is served in lobby, again a different experience.
