My wife and I recently spent seven days at Tom and Sharon’s property on the banks of the Delaware River in Bensalem, Pennsylvania.
The view of the river was lovely, and we enjoyed eating on the deck watching the birds and the boats.
The cabin was quiet and cozy. However, there were some disappointments. For example, the property description said that the cabin included a washer and dryer. The description did not say that the washer and dryer were located down steep, uneven outside stairs that were in disrepair. We did not feel safe using the stairs, so we did not use the washer and dryer.
The property description listed a grill, but we discovered that the grill was dirty and quite a distance from the cabin. We never used it. The deck had holes in the side railing and in the floor that could pose a danger to young children.
The cabin is located 30 minutes or less from Center City Philadelphia which gives you easy access to many historical, cultural and sporting sites. During our stay, we visited the South Street Market, the Barnes Collection, a Cuban jazz concert at the Abington Arts Center and dinner at the Victor Café in South Philadelphia.
Basic kitchen utensils were supplied (only 4 glasses) and the cabin was clean when we arrived. We appreciated the HEPA air filters that run throughout the cabin.
In our opinion, this property is a work in progress. As such, we felt the price we paid was high considering the condition of the property.
Tom and Sharon are open to suggestions and are working on the property. It will eventually be a superb getaway.
