The Neighborhood:
Mt. Washington is located in the city of Pittsburgh on the bluff looking over downtown. It is an old-school Italian neighborhood, well kept, very authentic, great gelato available in summer time, mix of both nice bars/restaurants that are a little bit touristy (those on Grandview Ave), and old neighborhood favorites where you can hear locals debate the best way from dahntahn back up to Mt. Warshington (yes, the true Pittsburgh accent is still very much alive - remember, Pittsburgh has been called both the "Paris of Appalachia" due to it being the cultural capital of the area and the "Galapagos Islands of linguistics" because trust me, yinz've never heard anything like the local dialect). Every Saturday night (around midnight - 3AM), Pittsburgh's Swing City offers public swing dancing and great music on the Grandview lookout in front of St. Mary of the Mount!
- ~3 minute walk to Monongahela Incline
- ~7 minute Uber to Fort Pitt Museum
- ~8 Minute Uber or Incline to Station Square, South Shore shopping, restaurants, entertainment!
- ~8 minute Uber Heinz Field and Stadiums!
- ~10 minute Uber to Andy Warhol Museum
- take Monongahela Incline to Station Square and Gateway Clipper river boat to Pirates' or Steelers' game for a memorable trip
Getting Around:
One short block from Monongahela Incline (image search online, it is VERY unique to Pittsburgh). Can ride the incline down to Station Square T stop (Pittsburgh's subway system) and are a couple of stops from the ballparks or PPG Paints Arena (or on foot it's a very pleasant 20 minute walk across downtown with two bridges providing EPIC photo ops of the city and the stadiums). Uber and Lyft also work great from this location.
Other Things to Note:
It's a great apartment, great location and within a building with a great history (over 100 year old building used to be an Italian Social Club and boarding house).
Also please note if you will be driving to the property the vehicle must be digitally registered as the streets are permitted parking only.
