Retama del Teide is a spectacular fully equipped 3 bedroom flat with swimming pool and a beautiful terrace with mountain views. Ideal for a family holiday near the sea, the mountains and with everything you need around (supermarkets, leisure, etc.). Located in the emblematic city of Puerto de la Cruz, only 5km from the Loro Parque, 1.2 km from the Botanical Garden, Retama del Teide offers all the comforts to relax and get to know the island of Tenerife.
Puerto de la Cruz has been considered a Place of National Tourist Interest since 1955 due to its long history as a holiday resort. Its valuable and well-kept historic quarter, with more than 140 protected buildings, is a delight for strollers, both tourists and locals, who walk its streets all year round. It has the highest density of restaurants and shops on the island, so the options for a meal and a day's shopping are endless. A visit to the traditional fishing quarter of La Ranilla is especially recommended, which since 2014 has had an innovative proposal, Puerto Street Art, an open-air museum where 13 world-famous artists have painted their works on large walls.
Puerto de la Cruz is also an ideal destination for active tourism and for enjoying the more than one thousand kilometres of trails on the island, with the 0-4-0 route as the best example. Its exuberant nature also allows you to enjoy paragliding at the foot of Mount Teide. The sea offers a multitude of sporting activities, from paddle surfing and bodyboarding to scuba diving. In addition, the spectacular underwater volcanic tube known as La Rapadura attracts many expert divers every year. If you want to enjoy the Atlantic Ocean in a calmer atmosphere, you can choose between the natural swimming pools of San Telmo, the volcanic sandy beaches or the Lago Martiánez swimming pool complex.
Throughout the year, Puerto de la Cruz hosts various cultural events. The International Street Art Festival (MUECA) in May is very popular, but also the Bavarian Week dedicated to German music and gastronomy which takes place at the end of August. In December, the Bach Festival is a highlight. As for popular festivals, the carnivals are the stars of the month in February, while on 3 May the festivities of Exaltación de la Cruz (Exaltation of the Cross) are held. On the night of 23rd to 24th June, on the eve of San Juan, bonfires are lit by the seashore and herds of goats bathe on the fishing quay, a custom that has its origins in aboriginal culture. In summer, in honour of the Virgen del Carmen, Puerto de la Cruz holds one of its most popular festivals among the local population. And in November, the wine cellars are opened and brass and metal jars are dragged through the streets, in a curious Fiesta de San Andrés in which tradition is intermingled with new wine.
