It’s okay
The line at the hotel to check in was insane, there was no rhyme or reason. I stood in that line for an hour attempting to be checked in, only to be told there was a separate check in for the select area. I was then escorted there, took another 30 minutes to check in there. There was absolutely no order to things. The beach access was iffy at best, and the room was basic. Not anything to write home about for mid two hundred dollar a night resort. Working the tv without instructions was a bit tricky, and the phone in the room was dead. The alcohol there was the cheapest no name stuff you can get, so if you want a hangover, go for it. Most of the staff were perfectly friendly, which did help. The bed was comfortable, and the AC was great. The beach its self was very nice, and it appeared there were plenty of food options. Word to the wise, be careful what you eat there. Over all, I wouldn’t book a long term stay there, but for a couple of nights, it’s not bad.

While it is advised as adults only it was not. Only a pool was adults only. The first room had black mold in it and was told they couldn’t do anything until the next day. Finally got a room change and that room was ok. Lots of areas had some damage but it looked like they were trying to work on those areas. If we knew it was just one pool that was adult only we would have saved some money.

We stayed for 7 nights over Christmas at the Select/adults only part of the resort which is what I’m reviewing here. The staff are lovely, very friendly and accommodating. The service at the Select restaurant was excellent and we had some nice food there. The select bar was good also with great service and nice cocktails. The coffee was also very good. Overall the resort had a nice relaxed vibe. It was nice to be so close the to town too which seemed quite safe. The room was nice and clean. I’ve seen people say there isn’t hot water - you have to let it run for about 4 mins and it gets nice and steamy FYI.

Lot's to say about this property. First, it was a beautiful beach and location. Just so you can compare, I purchased the Adults only all inclusive with no additional upgrades. The drinks were fine. We drank Pina Coladas most of the time and asked for doubles. It was nice that they would use my personal Camelbak cup to fill when I asked. As far as food goes, the buffet sucked. The food was okay but it was always luke warm and never hot. We learned right away to reserve one of the 4 restaurants for dinner each night and was happy with the food there. Also, we ordered sandwiches from the bar area which was pretty good also. So we only used the buffet for breakfast and they had an egg station so at least that was cooked to order and hot. The beach was small and and closed a few days because of weather. Regardless of weather I should have at least been able to sit on the beach without going into the water. Also the beach front was very steep going into the water so the waves broke close and hard. I like to body surf and that was NOT the place to do it. The staff was great. Our room was great and have a beautiful view of the ocean. I enjoy a good buffet and would not return here unless they could increase the quality of the food. Otherwise it was a great value vacation.

The overall experience of the Select area was very good! Everything was clean and neat. The room and ocean view was beautiful, relaxing just what I was looking for. The only down side, the pool was cold and jacuzzi werent hot, dont know if it was an electrical problem, but at least were clean and nice. The food restaurant and buffet was good and had different options. Overal 4/5 ⭐️, definitely would recommend and hope returning in the future.

Overrated
Review of La Casa Marina - Select I recently stayed at La Casa Marina - Select, and while there were a few positive aspects, my experience overall left much to be desired. Positives: The hotel’s cleanliness stood out. Both the rooms and public spaces were well-maintained, and the overall atmosphere was peaceful. Additionally, the beach was a highlight—clean, serene, and perfect for relaxation without the typical crowds. Negatives: Unfortunately, there were several disappointing aspects. First, the check-in process was poorly managed. Despite our reservation request for two rooms close by, this was not accommodated, which was frustrating. The food was another letdown—it lacked variety and became repetitive quickly, offering little to look forward to at mealtime. One of the most frustrating experiences was with the housekeeping team. They would knock once and immediately enter without waiting for a response, which felt intrusive and uncomfortable. Adding to the inconvenience, the phone in the room didn’t work, meaning any request or communication with the front desk required physically walking there or using WhatsApp, where responses were slow at best. Overall, I’ve had much better service, food, and entertainment at other resorts in Puerto Plata. Compared to those experiences, La Casa Marina - Select in Sosúa did not meet my expectations and was not worth the price. Unfortunately, I wouldn’t recommend staying here and likely won’t return.
