I don’t give bad reviews. I also don’t spend much on hotels. As long as it has a bed, bathroom and it’s clean, I’m happy. However due to it being a weekend in Rome, everything was higher than expected. I ended up paying $500 for two nights here. Unheard of for me.
First, no one mentioned that the metro station it’s at, Vittorio Emmanuel, is closed til July. I chose this place because I’m a female solo traveller. That station is 1 minute away. Instead I had to get off at the next one and walk. Nothing was sent to mention this.
Second, it often smelled of cigarette smoke.
Third, I had a few problems in my room. The AC dripped all night on the bed. I also had no water in the shower in the morning. They ended up giving me another room. Do you think they gave me a nicer one? Nope. They put me in a dungeon with blacked out windows and a twin bed. I had a shower and couldn’t figure out the hair dryer. I thought it was broken. Turns out that you have to turn on the bathroom mirror light to operate the hair dryer. I went to the desk AGAIN. The guy tried to be nice but he was annoyed by me. It wasn’t my fault there were all these problems. Anyway, if I were paying $50, I’d roll with it. But this was a lot of money for hostel-like conditions. I asked for refund, got a resounding “no”. I ended up leaving for a cheaper place (still expensive) but cheaper and 10 times nicer. I would not recommend this if you are paying over $100. There are nicer places for less.
