The location was good and the receptionist dealt with my complaint professionally, politely and refunded without quibble. The hotel was in a terrible state though, to such an extent that I checked out and moved hotels which I have never done in my life, especially at 6pm and 4 hours from home. The paintwork was chipped everywhere, Formica chipped on the bedroom furniture, the cupboard fell off its hinges when I opened the door, the back of the loo dirty, the bed cover was slightly stained and the worst thing of all was that the mattress was stained terribly down the side. There was a mattress protector on but I could not stay in a hotel like this. I am used to nice quality hotels to be fair and had expected this to be basic but clean which it wasn’t. An awful smell of cigarettes met you when you entered the hotel too.
We arrived earlier than check-in time. The staff at the lodge allowed us to keep our bags on site. We felt very comfortable doing so. The people on site helped us with navigation and transportation options for the area. Pub on site. No food. But, we had a great time chatting with the locals about our trip. Felt very safe here.
Dustweb hanging from the ceiling. Bed linen had some staining. Plug was stuck in the sink (staff told me it needed to free it with a knife!). Very soft mattress.
Very reasonably priced accommodation in a quiet hotel. Service and cleanliness of the hotel was excellent, although decor could in some parts have done with updating. The proprietor did everything she could to make our stay comfortable.
The bar area was nice the bar lady was helpful
And did her best to help. The property was very run down the first room we had the paper was hanging off and the wall was damp and mould was growing. we were then move to another room the wallpaper was coming off the bathroom panel was broken things were cleaned but stained. The last room we actually had for the two nights again the wallpaper was coming off there's cracks in the walls and the bed cover had a dirt mark on it we think it had be washed but the Mark just didn't come out. It had seven rating until it is remodelised unfortunately a two at best shame nice old house but it made forty towers look like a palaces.
It was locked up on arrival and played a guessing game of whick of the 5 bells to ring. Got the right one I. The end.
They have a good looking menu, I was informed when I arrived that there is no food so o need to go out and sort myself out.
The room was dirty, the blanket had stains on it. There were food crumbs on the floor.
The wall paper was ripped in places and was very old.
I had a twin room as that was all that's available. The beds had spings poking me in the back( I tried both).
I went to make a pot of tea, when I opened the tea pot it stank of old water and there was still water on the bottom.
The kettle was half full of water, no way of telling if it was fresh or if there was anything in it so I disposed of that.
Tiny tv for the size of the room a d there was a 1970's pull out bed in The corner.
The place was very noisy. I had a 6am flight to catch and I finally got to sleep around 1am. Music was thumping till around 11..then they took the party to the rooms.
It was very cold and no heating apart from a. Radiator that was not on.

Property was clean but decor and furniture etc very tired and run down. Our bedroom was a bit cobwebbed
Charming building with friendly and welcoming staff. The room was OK. Lovely clean bathroom and room but inexplicably awful mattress with sub-standard linen.
Reasonably priced and good location. Cooked breakfast was excellent.
