This property is more affordable than most SD rentals. It has an upstairs bedroom with a queen size bed and a living room sofa which could accommodate another person. The unit is clean and has basic kitchen appliances, tv, internet, and bathroom shower. Neighborhood is mostly residential but is walkable to stores, restaurants, a park.

Do not rent this property
Not at all as advertised. This is an added on apartment to a home. The unfinished counter in kitchen, causes your knees to abutt the open back of oven. Different furniture from picture. No wash/shower soaps, no coffee. Absolutely NO parking. We continuously had to park 10 to 15 minutes away. This property is a joke!

Weekend getaway
The communication and expectations of the host was seamless and easy to follow. There were a few concerns we had with the locks on the front door windows not latching correctly which should definitely be addressed by owner for safety reasons.

Pet friendly, but not people friendly.
Despite the great reviews I read before booking this property, unfortunately, my personal experience with the owner was not so nice. It started out ok, but I apparently asked too many questions.. he became rude asking if I am "slow or something" tells me I'm the most annoying person he has rented to asked my 13 year old daughter and I to leave( we ended up staying, but it was highly uncomfortable for the rest of our trip.) He actually excused his poor behavior with "I'm Norwegian, that's how we are" 🙄👎

GOOD LOCATION
WE ENJOYED BEING ABLE TO PARK IN THE DRIVEWAY SINCE THERE WAS NO PARKING. IT MIGHT BE BETTER IN THE OFF TIME SEASON. WE COULD HAVE HAD MORE TOWELS THEN WE DID AND PRIVACY ON THE PORCH. THE PICTURE SHOWS WE HAD THE WHOLE PORCH. YOU ALSO NEED TO PUT THERE ARE STAIRS TO THE BEDROOM AND BATH. THE WAY THE PICTURES WERE SHOW THERE WAS NO STAIRS AND A TERRIBLE BACK DOOR LOCK. I WAS NOT HAPPY TO SEE HIM COME INTO THE HOME AFTER MY HUSBAND LEFT. HE DID NOT KNOCK AND IT TOTALLY SCARED ME. HE IS NOT ALLOWED TO ENTER THE RENTAL ONCE YOU RENT IT. WE WERE RUNNING A LITTLE LATE WITH CHECK OUT, HE WAS TALKING WITH MY HUSBAND TELLING HIM. IT WAS OKAY HE DID NOT HAVE IT RENTED YET.

Ok experience
Good and safe location, nice little apartment to stay in for a week. One incident occurred while staying that is the reason for a 3/5. Our first day there, the owner of the place forgot or didn't know we were staying there and while I was taking a nap the owner tried to break into the place because he thought the door was locked from the maids. He did try to make it up to us with a bottle of wine, but the stay was a little tainted from the thought of someone trying to break in with a crowbar while we were just trying to relax. Also the beds were very stiff, along with the pillows and i woke up with neck pains each day. Overall, probably wasn't worth the price and there are better places out there.

North Park Cottage
This place is so cute! I’d love to stay here again. The patio was relaxing and the faux fireplace is a nice touch. Loved the upstairs bedroom and bath. Feedback for improvements: 1 dresser drawer was in need of reinforcement. I was afraid my clothes were too heavy for the bottom. More plants would be nice on the patio but that’s just me.

Small place, great location.
Overall, I really enjoyed my stay. I stay in North Park regularly because the neighborhood is easily walkable to tons of great restaurants and breweries/nightlife with easy access to the freeway. One thing about North Park vacation rentals is that most are pretty small. This was the smallest I’ve stay in yet. It was barely big enough for me. I’m 6’ 2” and I felt like I needed to be shoehorned to fit in the bathroom. The kitchen was similarly tiny. Aside from that, the location is awesome (although parking in NP is a nightmare)! The bed was extremely comfortable, ceiling fans were quiet and it had everything you needed for a short stay (3 nights for me).

Furniture is very cheap. The bed is propped up on cylinders. Bathroom likewise very cheap, tiny pedestal sink, small shower. epoxy poured over hardwood floors are very slippery. No easily accessible power outlets in bedroom for charging.

The unit was fine for two days. Could use some loving care (stairs need work). Patio really not useful. Make sure you let people know bedroom and bathroom are upstairs. Communication was great! Thank you. Well worth the $.

Just an okay experience
I was a little disappointed by this unit. The cleanliness upon arrival was not up to par (kitchen had not been wiped down well, finger prints on the cabinets, microwave filled with cooked cheese and crumbs, bathroom had a fair bit of hair on the floor, etc.) but Michael quickly offered to have the cleaning lady come back and agreed to refund me the cleaning fee. I had already cleaned up what I could and the refund was appreciated. The listing indicated a washer/dryer, and I had to clarify with Michael where it was located (not inside the unit, but out back). I am used to unit owners leaving renters with brief instructions on such things like that. The unit could use some updating (patch up some walls/paint)- but it got the job done. Great location in North Park- close to lots of restaurants and shops, quiet overall (a few mornings there was someone doing drilling and carpentry out the back door). Great shower head, comfortable bed. AC worked very well. Check-in was easy with key access code. I did not have a car, but I could see how parking could be a little tricky at certain hours. Michael was not super responsive to emails- I had to resend a couple times for a response, but he was always courteous. Not a bad experience, but I probably wouldn't choose this unit again.
