Villa Margherita is an absolutely beautiful place, both the property itself and the location. It was spotlessly clean and had so much room that we (6 of us) kept losing each other inside the house!
The villa had an extremely well-stocked kitchen, which was an extra bonus because we were a group who all enjoy cooking. In fact, we dined out less than we normally would because it was more fun to stay in to cook, drink wine, and swim.
The pool was wonderful and got plenty of use from us. It was perfect for starting and ending each day, and all the better because we didn't have to share it with other people.
Our host, Natale, lived upstairs on the top floor. He was very kind and helpful to us, but didn't intrude. It was reassuring to know that if we had any problems (we didn't), someone was there to help.
It's highly recommended to have a car if you're staying at Villa Margherita. It's only a couple of kilometres from Santa Teresa di Riva, but it's uphill all the way and that's exhausting if you do it every day, especially if you're carrying shopping bags. We walked down several times for the exercise, but it was nice to know we had a car to get to other places we wanted to visit.
Villa Margherita is perfectly located for visiting nearby Savoca, which is where The Godfather was filmed. It's also a good base for hiking and cycling.
We were all very sorry to leave and would happily return for another visit in the future.
Thank you, Natale.
