A lovely old pub with great beer. Shrewsbury is a lovely town and Cromwell's is located in a very nice part. The food at the pub looked great, but we didn't eat there. The room decor was rather old and worn out, for example towel rail was rusty, hair dryer broken and no extractor in bathroom. It needs new furnishings and a lick of paint. The bed however, was comfortable and the staff very nice and helpful. Checking out was also easy. Be warned this is a pub so
there is noise at night from the bar. A great location and bit of Shrewsbury history.
Unfortunately we were given the room directly over the bar and being an old pub seemed to have no sound proofing at all. It was tremendously noisy from around noon through til closing at 11pm and felt as if we were in the middle of the bar surrounded by all the revellers. I understand we booked a room in a pub but having done this before and we have not hsd this kind of noisy experience. The room was quirky but the bathroom, although clean, needs broken shelving replaced, radiators repainted to hide the rust and the hairdryer was out of use. The staff were lovely and all very friendly.
It was good in the main but room really noisy when people were below in the bar. Also shower was cold on one of the nights. Staff were lovely apart from one grumpy git (male).
Historical building in centre of town, close to all amenities.
Welcome atmosphere and our Host very knowledgeable. Well supported even during the week, music can be heard upstairs but only for a short while.

We stayed here on a Saturday night. The stay was ok. The room was very warm so had to sleep with the window open. Also we stayed in a room above the bar which was very loud. Even once bar was shut at midnight we could hear the bar staff chatting and laughing while tidying up which meant it was gone 2am before I could get to sleep
Our stay at Cromwell's tap house was average on the whole. Bed was comfortable. Being above a pub isn't ideal, noise until midnight. Also on a busy road. But it did it's job, gave us somewhere cheap to stay for the night
