We just stayed up here for 4 days for my sons hockey tournament, and it was close to the rink and to everything else in South Lake Tahoe. The house was fine, although everything inside was quite dated and could use a nice upgrade.
The 2 issues we had were that the garage door wouldn't work, and since we had 2 cars and there was no street parking, we had to constantly open and close it manually. Also, the driveway was covered with 3-6 inches of solid ice, and the walkway hadn't been cleared and was frozen solid as well.
The driveway was so icy that we had to install chains just to move a 4wd truck in and out of it. Without them the wheels just spun.
Over the course of our stay my 65+ year-old Dad slipped and fell on the driveway, and I took a bad fall on the back deck from the ice.
I know that ice comes with a trip to Tahoe in the winter, but also thought that it wasn't unreasonable to have a safe walkway to get in and out each day. I would've cleared it myself but the only shovel on-site was broken, and there wasn't anything else helpful to use.
Also, it is a dog-friendly house, which was important to us as we had to bring our dogs. They were very clear that any left "messes" would result in a surcharge, however when we got there we found half-a-dozen "surprises" left from the previous occupant with a dog. It's no fun trying to clear dog crap that is frozen solid and not even from your own dog out of fear you'll get charged.
