We are so glad to welcome you to our Spectacular Earthship!

This ingenious home is luxuriously off-the-grid, with solar power, water harvesting, integrated greenhouse & expansive glass offering views of mountains & star filled nights. We even have "surprisingly good" WiFi throughout the home!

For Earthship aficionados, our home is a "global model", the pinnacle of sustainable design and architectural beauty without sacrificing comfort.

Our Earthship, built in 2013, is off-the-grid, meaning all electricity and heating/cooling are solar powered. Water is harvested from rainfall, and used multiple times after domestic use including watering plants in the beautiful integrated greenhouse. The ample New Mexico sun even creates the heat for hot water. The house was constructed with mostly recycled and natural materials, including tires and recycled glass. Everything was lovingly handcrafted and artistic touches abound.

An Earthship is not for everyone. You'll find all the comforts of a modern home, but you need to be conservative in your use of water and electricity. It's much easier to be mindful of resource use and in tune with nature with the expansive views -- you'll see sunrises, sunsets, starry skies, and can watch weather move across the mesa with long range views to the Sangre de Cristo Mountains.

The Internet access is quite good most of the time, but since you are off-grid sometimes the WiFi can slow down and it can be frustrating. We find the Wifi suitable for streaming television and video calls most of the time, but not always so please be advised. Cell phone reception is limited.

Our guests are amazed at how easy and rewarding it is to experience an earth-sheltered natural home and enjoy learning how to help the house perform at its best :) You maintain comfortable temperatures by opening and closing vents, windows and doors - participation is a must!

Before we purchased this property, it was a long time rental with a 4.98 score and over 200 glowing reviews. People love staying here and we hope you will too!

We are located in the world famous Earthship Biotecture, just outside the beautiful town of Taos, New Mexico. We are located about 20 minutes from the town of Taos and about 45 minutes from the Taos Ski Valley, one of the premier ski destinations in the world.

We were absolutely thrilled to be able to stay in this house. It did not disappoint. The smell of the geraniums when you first walk in is delightful. We really liked the floor plan. And we enjoyed the proximity to the monumental bridge across the Rio Grande.

Best time ever!
The Earthship we stayed in far exceeded any our expectations. It was other worldly. We stopped at the grocery store and hunkered down there for our entire visit. The fire pit in back was a wonderful spot to stargaze. My daughter and I don’t remember ever seeing so many stars. The decor was beautiful and spotless. Everything was cozy and clean as well. We had a wonderful time.

Earthship Adventure
We loved staying in the earth ship. It was beautiful and very comfortable. Watching the stars on the outdoor patio at night was phenomenal - We saw shooting stars and there were just millions of them. It is very close to the Rio Grande Gorge Bridge and we also toured the visitor center at Biotecture which was fascinating. Learned lots more about earth ships. Very quiet and peaceful.

We loved staying in this earthship! We have had a huge interest in them and it was wonderful to be able to experience living in one. There is a sense of peacefulness within, especially when it is cold & snowy outside and yet so warm and comfortable on the inside. The greenhouse is a wonderful spot to spend time in, the bed is comfy and the bathroom is very unique. 20min drive to Taos, which has so many spots to eat and shop!

A great first experience in an earthship! During a snowy night, high winds and temps in the low teens the interior stayed warm and comfortable. The system is easily managed, open door to solarium warmer etc. Well equipped home, we appreciated the full kitchen and unique solar fridge. The stars at night are big and bright- is an understatement. The daytime views of the front range are postcard worthy. Nearby gorge bridge provides a great walking trail and Taos itself is an easy drive. This is an escape, a learning experience and a real disconnect from all things hectic. Host was responsive but never intrusive. Recommended.

We have been intrigued with staying in an Earthship since visiting the Earthship Biotecture Visitor Center back in 2011. Circumstances came together to make a short stay at this Earthship possible. The house was clean, well organized with easy explanations posted about how to best use features of the house, and beautifully decorated with glass bottle walls, lush plants in greenhouse area and well stocked kitchen. Thank you for sharing your house and inspiring more off grid living!

One Of A Kind Experience
The location of the Greater World Earthship Community ensures peace & privacy while experiencing an “off the grid” lifestyle. Located near many natural points of interest, the earthship is a great home base for hiking. The host is very responsive, checking in with you, but never intrusive. This is an excellent place for rebooting & taking in the beauty of nature!

It was so nice to stay in an Earthship. Fan of the concept for almost twenty years.
It snowed in Taos and the temps dropped into the teens but the Earthship stayed plenty warm! AMAZING!! Super nice interior.

Peaceful and relaxing
We loved the earthship! It is in a beautiful location with views all around, not far from Taos. The greenhouse creates a sauna effect and I enjoyed basking in the heat in the that section of the home. It also heats the home with no problem ( The temp was 16 degrees at night and the home was toasty). The home is comfortable and quiet. I highly recommend!!!!

My 16 year old daughter requested that we travel to stay at an Earthship. I did not realize quite what an Earthship was. Wow! Staying at Michelle's property and staying within the Biotecture Community was a delightful experience. Not only did my daughter and I throughly enjoy the peace and beauty of this property, we were also inspired to bring our new knowledge of Earthship living back East. I highly recommend this experience to anyone who is seeking peace, inspiration, or simply relaxation.

This was the most serene and inspiring place to start 2021! Between the gorgeous sunrises and sunsets, we enjoyed cooking in the well-appointed kitchen, hiking nearby, learning about how the earthship stays so cozy during the winter, and just staring out at the beautiful views. The place was spotless, communication was easy, and the location couldn't be better -- close enough to the conveniences of town, and far enough to feel removed from it all. Thanks, Michelle!

Beautiful home and location
We really enjoyed our extended weekend stay at the earthship. The home is beautiful as pictured and has a great view of the mountains and a good location for stargazing. As far as amenities, the kitchen was well-equipped with appliances and had a basic pantry. We had no problems with the wifi and were able to stream videos with no problems.
