Seabiscuit is a very cute and well laid out house. It is nice that each bedroom had its own bathroom. We had one day of rough weather, spending the day indoors, and the common living area seated 5 adults comfortably. The heated pool is really nice outdoor alternative to the beach. It is well maintained and cleaned by the pool service company.
The rental process for this home was quite confusing. I rent often from VRBO and usually receive personalized service from owners – quite response to questions, key code to check in/out, etc., travel insurance option, very clean house, and a few courtesy items, esp. for later arrivals (e.g., roll of toilet paper). Following booking, I received confirmation from VRBO and notice when my final payment was due. I then received emails from Coastal Vacation Rentals (CVR) about a rental agreement, their own insurance plan, pool heater fee, etc. - with no introduction that they were actually the owner of the property and would be taking over. It was very confusing receiving different documents from 2 different companies. I received a different insurance document from CVR, but was told to ignore what they automatically sent and go with what I received from VRBO.
Upon arrival, we checked in at the CVR office and were quite disappointed when we arrived that the house did not have any toilet paper, the master bedroom toilet handle was broken, and the house was not clean. The bathrooms had animal hair around the sinks and in the showers and the stove top of the oven had never been cleaned. We noticed the stove top began smoking and tool apart the burners and found that the drip pans had never been cleaned or replaced and had burnt food on them, but were covered in foil. Very disgusting. We reported this health hazard to the CVR office and they sent someone out to get the part numbers for the drip pans, but never returned during our stay to replace them. The living and bedroom areas have a lot of dust around furniture. we will not rent this house again.
My point is this house has a great layout and location, and the heated pool is wonderful, but it is unfortunate that the house is not properly cleaned between guests. I will continue to rent from VRBO, but not CVR properties. I would like to suggest a check after the cleaning crew is done to make sure the house is clean and main items are not broken, and to communicate to VRBO renters who CVR is.
