The location was good and check-in friendly and efficient. We were disappointed with our room as it was small and felt grimy because the carpet was soiled and had detritus on the floor from previous guests and ring marks where glasses/cups had been left on the coffee table. Although we hung a “do not disturb” sign up for the duration of our stay, someone did enter on our last full day - and this confirmed my concerns regarding hygiene standards as they left the used toilet / bath mat folded on top of a clean unused hand towel on the side of the hand basin. The room fridge was not up to job of keeping things cold - the hotel advertises the groovy Smeg fridge as a plus, but it failed to stop the milk we stored in it from spoiling and barely kept our bottled water cold during our three night stay. ( Also, it has no freezer section - even roadside motels can keep a freezer brick frozen in their generic bar fridges). The room was smaller than expected - I had to shuffle sideways along the edge of the bed between it and windows to get in and out of it, brushing along the curtains the whole way. It would benefit from having hooks for hats, and raincoats and umbrellas as only four hangers are provided in the ‘open’ wardrobe. I would recommend this accommodation only for a single traveller staying one or two nights who’s relaxed about cleanliness.

They said the reception is until 10pm, we went there to extend our stay but 9:10pm only and all lights were off and no one in there (dec29). We decided to transfer another hotel.. a better hotel and lovely staff.. when we check in around 8pm the receptionist is rude!

What a horrible experience, particularly for the amount I paid (i.e. over $600) on one of the seven nights that i was here. No amenities and a staff that was less than helpful. A nice large room, but no chair to sit on? Just a footstool? Very hard to work while traveling on a footstool. Nice large balcony but it was totally empty - again, not even a chair or little table to enjoy a coffee? Tiny bathroom and sink with no place to store anything (i.e. not even small shelving above the toilet, which would be standard). Otherwise, not any place to store your clothes, so have to leave it in your suitcase! Not great when you're staying for a week. One drawer which had a big safe in it, so it wasn't really usable. Four hangars, and when I asked for more, on several occasions, was told I could only get 5. Housekeeping took the entire set of towels on the $600+ day but never restocked (even though several were clean and didn't need to be taken) .... when I went to the desk to ask, they said the hotel had run out of towels, so I had to beg for one. Really?

Friendly helpful service. Secure parking, great location. The room was comfortable but smelt very musky and may need airing first. For those with mobility issues the shower is over a bath.

Paul immediately knew if I were staying two weeks, I would need a better room (for an extra charge). The room he picked for me was perfect - high enough to get sunshine every morning and a balcony for where to have my morning coffee and listen to the world, birds, and police. The location and the space allowed me to admire Surrey Hills. I will return and recommend this place. It was unforgettable for my first time in Australia. The only downsides were that there were leaks that caused noise issues. It would have been nice to receive a notice of warning that construction would begin at a certain time of the day. At least put a notice in the elevators. Also, the doors slams so hard enough that it shakes the walls! I think that needs to be fixed especially for people who are light sleepers. Overall, Paul, Nim, Alberto, (hope got their names right)and the cleaning staff were kind and generous with their time and efforts. I really admire how they did their professional best to accommodate all the guests. I hope they know they are essential to the success and future of this hotel. Above all, they represent, reflect and respect the community around them, especially the LGBTQ history that surrounds them.

First, terrible AC for summer. Blower would barely work, maintenance insisted I live with it, could not change rooms, making it hard to sleep. Second, parking underneath building extremely tight turns. Rental just small Hyundai I30, barely make turns, proximity sensors constantly going off. Even going super slow, careful, still scraped car. Think twice, seriously, of bringing a car. Better yet, choose another hotel in the area.
