Alright for staying one night
The hotel staff are nice and helpful. Very basic breakfast provided. The nearest MRT is ZHONGSHAN station Exit R9, just 5 min walk to this hotel. Plenty of restaurants nearby and 15 min walk to Shuangcheng Street Night Market. However, the room is dirty and very humid. There was a dehumidifier inside the small room and it was noisy and it just stopped working once the water tank was full. A strange smell stayed in the room, probably this hotel building is too old and not very well ventilated. But What can you expect booking a hotel room at this cheap price in Taipei CBD?

The bedroom hadn't been thoroughly cleaned - I found a fake nail and hair in the cupboards. The hotel also advertised a gym facility. This was not working when I arrived and the gym equipment were incredibly old. The staff were lovely and friendly, but this is a very budget hotel.

This is the first hotel experience where I had to switch rooms 3 times due to the smell. The rooms were muggy and humid, this couple with the smell from the air/air condition I was already looking to check out after barely sleeping through the first night. The rooms are old and the vinyl floors are peeling at the edges. The only comfort were the fluffly yet firm pillows but sadly even that was stained by the smell of the damp air. I don't know how this hotel is rated 3-4 stars. It is 2.5 at most. Thankfully the front desk was accommodating to switch the rooms multiple times. However my guess is thay they are used to this complaint as I had one guest demanding a refund while I was waiting in the small lobby for my taxi. Overall, my first experience in Taiwan was tainted as a result of my hotel experience. Thankfully, Taipei's food experience made up for it.

Shower had mould everywhere. We called and asked for a new room but they said they were fully booked. We called back and said we would give a 1 star review and want a refund. All of a sudden the room next door was available. AC didnt cool past 28C. They gave us a fan.

Deceptive listing and business practices
I use Hotels.com for my constantly travels and have book hundreds of rooms/nights in Taipei. This is the first hotel that really really angered me because of their deceptive listing and poor service. Nothing went right with my stay. 1) Room does not look like the picture - not even close. When I raised the issue with the staff, they told me they have multiple room types of Standard Double Room, so they show the best on the listing, while give the worst at arrival. I had to make a huge fuss in order for them to honor my booking and give me the room that was shown on Hotels.com listing. 2) Laundry room does not look like the listing picture. I booked here partly because I need to freshen up my laundry on a long business trip. The actual laundry barely has 1 old style top-load washer and 1 dryer, multiple and more advanced machines depicted in their photos. The single washer us constantly in use, so I couldn't even do a simple load of clothes. 3) Stairs and steps EVERYWHERE! It's like someone designed the hotel to maximize the likelihood of guests tripping and falling. Street to front door landing has steps. Front door has yet another step into lobby. Lobby to elevator has steps. Once out of the elevator, they use high resistant carpet so you can't wheel your luggage easily. Even the bathroom has steps. 4) Non-working internet and staff has no solution and no apologies. Internet didn't worked at all during my entire stay and I couldn't do any work at all!
