This was a fully automated check in with a machine booth on the property frontage you checked into with photo ID ( we used passports) to obtain door codes. Worked well. Little niggle - We elected to spend more and have a canal view room. Should have been wonderful but the canal was being extensively renovated over several years and was a building site! Will be wonderful when completed.

This place is cute and unique with a historical air and modern decor. Bear in mind, however, that it is not a luxury hotel and the prices reflect this. There is mostly no staff on site. We checked in through an outdoor automated kiosk and checked out the same way. If there is an issue you are on your own. The rooms are quite small, although they did a lot with the space they have. I would absolutely NOT recommend this inn to anyone older or with any sort of disability or mobility issues. We stayed in lock 8 which had a very low sloped ceiling, steep stairs, and only one side of the bed was accessible as the other side was against the wall with no room to exit other than to climb off the end or over your partner if you are not alone. The bed was perfectly serviceable but not especially comfortable. Given the price and the charm, it was worth the experience and I might stay there again on my own but my 6’2” husband had trouble and it felt crowded with the two of us. It was clean and safe and quiet and the neighborhood is cute, and there is a pizzeria next door. Just be aware of what you are getting!

This place is so cute! It's in an incredibly convenient and walkable location right in the center of town close to shops and restaurants. We walked everywhere! Our room was really clean and nicely decorated. We felt very safe and loved our stay here!

Old cold and noisy

Only staff on site was a woman washing laundry so no service. Found a roach in the kitchen area. Freezing cold air gushed into our room through the leaky old window. We put pillows in front of the windows but that was not enough to block the drafts. Walls are so thin you can hear everything from the rooms next door and people walking and banging upstairs. We got no sleep and my wife ended up getting sick. worst stay of our trip. No staff so no one cleared the snow from in front of the hotel. Hotel should note that they have no parking and overnight parking is $31.00.

This is a simple, comfortable, clean place to stay which suited our needs very well. I'd give it excellent ratings in every category applicable and the reason I didn't is because there was a plug-in sent in the front hallway right outside our room. I am scent sensitive and the smell was so intense in the room that I went out to the hallway and unplugged it because it was giving me a headache. Beyond that it was a great place to stay.

A nice surprise in Georgetown!

A very good and clean no-frills inn situated in one of the most desirable neighborhoods of DC. My check-in was a bit wonky so be prepared to have your phone's flash light on when you use their kiosk. The kiosk reader could not read my drivers license so get your reading glasses ready if you need them when you check in as you'll have to type in all your info including drivers license number if the kiosk does not scan your ID. That was a very minor issue as the room was very clean and the bed was very comfortable with a clean shower and bathroom. I plan on staying here regularly. Highly recommend.

Convenient and clean! I will stay here again!

This was a great experience! Easy check-in. Clean and updated furniture and fixtures. The hot water does run out a bit early, but I'm sure that's something that can be adjusted easily by management.
